Every now and then, we deal with laziness, depression, fatigue etc., This is because we have to cope up with fast paced life. I usually see post above depression, problems and such here in mylot. We give advices to each other and encourage each other. We all have our techniques to refresh ourselves and motivate ourselves. So, I want to find out what unique ways other mylotters have learned to motivate themselves. How do you motivate yourself? Are there any unique ways that you find effective in dealing with all these issues? Please share your thoughts here. Thanks in advance.

I keep a diary and I have a rule for myself. If something needs to be done, I write it in my diary on the day I need to get it done. The rule is if it written in there, I guarantee that I will do it, providing I am alive and am able to do it. Commitment triumphs over procrastination. If I write it down, I am committed. If ever I break a commitment, then that will be the beginning of the end because that is the only way that I have managed to stop putting things off.
I may not want to do the things that I feel that I have to, but after doing them, I will always feel fulfilled and through all the years that I have been doing this, my motivation power is so very much stronger. We can't always have and do the things we like, but we can always do the things we need to do, if we exercise our own power of commitment and not weaken it, by breaking promises to ourselves and others. _Derek

I envy you for being able to control your id and be responsible enough to finish what you need to accomplish. I am planning on getting my own organizer and bring it with me to guide me and help me plan my everyday life. Just until I can really do it without organizer. Meanwhile I will consult the help of a planner to organize myself.

good day clouds0327,
with reference to your main post, i am not considering any unique way to motivate myself. hence, the only thing that i am always thinking was, i need to earn because i want to achieve and hit my target. as well as, i want to have a service vehicle car of my own. that's it.

Hi clouds: In my case, they way to feel motivated is just by coming back to my comfort way which means to do some relaxing activities.
Generally I listen to music to motivate myself. When I have too much stress and I have the chance to go to the restroom or to close my eyes for a few seconds and take a deep breath I'll do it.
Sometimes just a little 5 minutes rest is enough to make me feel motivated again.

I would normally motivate myself by treating myself to some sweet treats such as ice cream, cold sweet drinks, cake and nice meals. If that is not enough to motivate me, I would think about the consequences that may occur if I didn't do something such as won't be passing the exams or being fired. Of course, I also motivate myself by thinking it's for the sake of others.

one way for me to motivate myself is to think about my bills that i need to pay, by that i have to force myself to get up and work :) i know its sounds funny but its really true!

That is true for me too. I just tell myself I need to pay this and that but usually thinking about it really stresses me out and makes me want to just sleep and be lazy.

Most people would probably need approval or recognition from their friends and families. And sometimes, when it comes from these people, the motivation never fails. Apart from that, i tend to reward myself. Like indulging in my most favorite desert after a job well done. Or treating myself to nail salon. Hehe

I agree.I also treat myself after doing a very challenging job. But I don't eat or go to the salon. I indulge into movie marathon. I watch a lot of movies every day off. That way It's like I went to different places and met different people so it's also like I traveled and really enjoyed.

I watch an inspirational movie or tv show. I want to make a to do list just like you but I am always just good at first and I can't do it continuously. For now, what's effective for me is watching a movie, reading posts here in mylot and looking at other people's success. Especially those posts from facebook. Them traveling from one place to another and pictures of what they bought for themselves. Their house, car, living room, their whereabouts. I tell myself I am gonna be there too. Sometimes it frustrates me but most of the time it encourages me.

Hmm...I motivate myself with a little greed.
How do I say this?
I know that greed is bad--only if it's too much that what you're doing to get what you want is bad already. But the feeling of wanting to have something (a little greed) is something that motivates me every now and then. Yes, I get depressed but because of the feeling of "I want to have this"/"I want to have that", I get to keep myself together, get excited and think of ways to get what it was that I want to have. At least this is what I do...

I want to do that too. I just don't know how and how to be organized with it. Maybe there's a lot of things going on in my mind and I am not an organized person that's why I easily get frustrated sometimes.

sometimes i feel lazy to do things soon. at that time i motivate myself as if i do this, i will reward myself with something which i like. i don't buy things which i like so soon. i will keep that thing as reward. i will set a goal and if i complete that goal i will reward myself as a gift which i am longing for. by doing this i will do my works correctly.

I think for some a great motivator is money , the more you write , the more you make. Anyway, I try to relieve stress by just going for a walk with my dog. I think exercise is a great stress reliever but everyone has their own methods, I suppose.

If a problem do come in my way and sometimes it is tiring to face it and hard. I do believe by the power of words. I motivate myself by talking to myself. :P If the it is impossible, I'll make it possible. I believe in positive thinking. If it does not work I'll do my best to make it work. I do not give up easily. If other people can, why cant I? By setting my mind to those words. Problems will be solve in time. It is a matter of perspective.

I like to think of the result if I did the work perfectly. It's nice to picture yourself in the fruits of your work! If I want a raise and a good vacation, I like to think of myself relaxing on a beach in the Bahamas drinking a mojito! Picturing the future always motivates yourself, even if you don't feel it. Try it out, it can help! :0)

Yes, everyday we deal with personal issues of laziness, depression, fatigue, financial problems, relationship problems, etc. I agree with you that finding intrinsic motivation is a great help. Those who succeed in life have found something inside that helps them overcome the different issues and problems of life. In my personal life, I found out that there are ways to keep myself motivated. One is an internal desire to achieve something very important. I read motivational books, success experiences of others who may have similar problems like me before they made it big. Hearing God's Word being preach is one of the great ways of motivation, knowing that God is good in spite of the trials and tribulations of life.

Work out!! Go for a litte walk and get some fresh air. I love to get in my car listen to some music I enjoy and let it vibrate into my body this relaxes me. My best solution is reading the book "Purpose Driven Life". This book will motivate you and pick up your spirits. It will encourage you to realize what your purpose in life is and that is to enjoy life and let the troubles behind you not to effect you. I also like to take a deep breath and laugh real hard because laughter heals the soul from depression. Life is too short not to enjoy it to the fullest. Smile and realize it gets better before worse.
