I am not talking about videogames, I am talking about street games that kids play like hide and seek or Hopscotch. There are many Filipino street games I grew up playing as kid. I noticed Kids were playing some sort of new street games I am not familiar with. I dont understand the mechanics of those games but I am so sure those are not the street games, I dont know who invented those street games, It seemed like these generation of kids were able to invent street games on their own. or the could have tried to evolve the street games we grow up with as kids. To all Filipino Mylotters, what are the street games do you play as a kid, do you still see kids playing them?

I like shatong (don't know the spelling hehehe). I don't see any kids playing street games here in our area, not at all. Kids are too busy with computer these days, that's for sure. Our place is too peaceful and honestly I missed kids playing around, I missed little voices esp those little ones when they screamed with high pitch (lols)

Very true! It's very rare nowadays to see kids playing those games like that. Most kids now are into PC and PSP's, even 5 year olds already know how to use them.

Oh,speaking of street games,I think I have played almost all street games I knew during my childhood days, lol! Even the street games for boys like playing text cards,I've played those and I'm always what my friends call, the "Master",hehe! I really enjoyed y childhood days because of these street games and until now,I am playing it sometimes with my nieces and my daughter(feeling like a kid again, haha!) I just noticed some new rules in the street games my nieces are playing now like in hopscoth, they are allowed to step on the box where the "pamatos" are. During week ends,we usually play "tamaang bola" and "patintero" and I am still enjoying it though I easily get tired now, waaaa!!!

speaking of nieces, few months ago I visited my mom and dad, my nephews and nieces lives with them cos their parents who are my siblings works abroad. My nephew and my Niece plays a game called "chicken curry" the game reminded me of "nanay tatay" and "sharon loves gabby" I dont know how that game existed out of nowhere. I had seen lots of kids playing it too. who the heck thought them that chicken curry game. Its a rip off of "nanay tatay"

Well, I know sometimes the kids today have forgotten about the games we used to play and enjoy as a kid. They always seem to be too busy, and often forget about just taking time to play together and have Fun. But I do still see from time to time the kids around here drawing hopscotch patterns, or playing kickball, jumping rope, etc. But then you often see them playing New types of games that they have somehow invented as well.

oops sorry if I missed this response, Makes me wonder why adults didnt try to pass their games to the next generation. Its amazing though how kids were able to invent their own games,

Most of those games i know are catching each other, running around, there are also games we call piko, or heaven and earth, or mother hen and her chicks, hmmm and some other great outdoor fun! :D

hi! as a kid, i grew up with more boys around (both older and younger) than girls my age. i kinda tagged along with my brothers and their friends. in our block, it's a given during brown-outs that the entire neighborhood youngsters would play "hide and seek". it's such a fun playing in the dark as i got into holes and corners that nobody was able to guess i'd be. the best hiding place for me then was being part of the gumamela shrub. lol until now, kids in my family still play it along with "tag". but we don't get brown-outs as much as we used to back then. so the hiding and the seeking part has less thrill than when playing in the dark. patintero or tubig, siato, luksong baka, luksong tinik, the street version of football, dodge ball and chinese garter, piko, tumbang preso, sipa, dr. quack-quack, pepsi - 7 up, langit-lupa-impyerno, bulaklak, "london bridge", hulugang panyo, kitse (bottle caps) and lastiko (rubber bands)... these are some of the games we used to play out in the streets. as far as my memory serves me. these days, some of the traditional games evolved with the changing times. the basic rules and concept still apply but played slightly different.

I think some of the new street games kids playing have influences from the current pop culture, I think most kids now play videogames but those who cant afford it still play some street games, plus in school playgrounds they play it too cos videogames are not allowed in schools. so street games wont really die but yes there are new street games kids play that is so different from the ones we played but there is still some sort of influence.

I have played quite a lot of street games during my childhood. Our neighborhood has lots of young ones before and we will all play together making it easy to play even the games that require many players. We played tumbang preso, shato and tex. I think that my most played game was tex as I have collections of different movies, anime and the likes in tex. Also, during my elementary and high school days you will see most of us students playing street games in school. Trumpo, sipa and patintero are popular ones. Even chinese garter and ten, twenty are ahit to boys too! Yeah! I missed those Agawan base and Langit Lupa moments. I especially like taguan, bahay-bahayan and bangsak! Well games do evolve and with the creative minds of the younger generation nowadays, it can't be help to invent or modify street games on their own.

When my siblings and i were just kids, we used to play outside together with our cousins. We would play patintero at our cemented yard , tumbang preso in our lawn and catch me if you can. During those full moon nights, we would play hide and seek, until our parents would call us to come home because it's already late at night. I really enjoyed playing those games in my childhood years. They shall be forever cherished in my memories.

I just realized in a memory in my brain that has been replaced, I actually invented some street games, in my childhood that became viral in my school. LOL Oh my the memories, I remember making the grumpy old neighbor being angry to the noise me and my playmates produce while playing. Now I am the grumpy old neighbor and I am only 26.

As I was a a girl,. my most 'recycled' game was bahay-bahayayn. As you know in the game, I pretended to be a mother (and in a sense, a wife) to imaginary husband and child (and sometimes, not, with a doll) who basically does household chores and duties of a mother. sometimes, I play it my friends, others by cousins near my age. i wasn't the outdoor nor the athletic type and due to the fact of my gender, I wasn't allowed to play, patintero and gerbase most of the time. Instead, I was on the Chinese garter and the ridiculous 20?20 . I still recall playing those games while wiaitng for the school bus. In today's world, I still see some remnants of these Filipino games. But more often I saw them with the latest Nintendo or PlaysStation. They usually play this stuff basically just a mechanism to pass time and when they are bored and usually, when there's no power. For them, it's just a mechanism to pass the time and to have soothing to do before they get back to their beloved consoles.

I think despite of the videogames existence, I still see kids playing streetgames, but I have no idea what are they playing. They seemed to able to conceptualize a game of their own. I still see some classic streetgames being played but they seemed to evolved to todays generation, they dont play them the way we play those games.,

We played all sorts of street games when I was a kid. I would name some in Tagalog because I don't know the equivalent of it in the US. hahaha... Of course, Hide and seek is on top of the list. Patintero is next. Remember Pepsi/7 UP? hahaha... Tumbang preso is another popular game back then. Unfortunately, I see no kids playing those anymore.

me neither, I think the street games kids are playing now are nothing like the street games we play as kids. they seemed to develop games on their own. I think I saw some kids playing tumbang preso but they seemed to change the mechanics. They use stones instead of slippers.
