It has been my habit to view and read comments from online platforms like news to get a 'feel' of what people thoughts and feelings regarding a social or public issue. Whenever, I do this habit, I am often surprised at what people say or comment on a certain topics. There are a variety of response and opinions which I often and privately disagreed or agreed. I have nothing against freedom of expression. it is a basic right in many countries nowadays. but I think, even in my conversations with the people around me, that people 'read' too much on an issue. Their reasons are sometimes valid , did, sometimes not. But I wonder why do people have this tendency? Any ideas? Theories? or some sort of explanation?

What annoys me are comments that are not relevant with the issue. I remember reading comments on the trailer of the movie that was shoot here in our country. Some comments are too irrelevant and annoying (duh)

well, that is the price 9and sometimes, abuse) of freedom. People can talk whatever and whenever they like more on mediums like the internet because ti is easy and convenient now to voice something. Sometimes, the comment is not in the proper context but people always emphasize on the practice rather than correct application. Many time people just want to voice out whether what they have to say is even relevant or not.

sometimes they read too much because they're addicted to it, also thats they're only happiness to express their imagination through reading.

I never thought of that. I don't know what kind of addiction or very profound interest they have and why they have such interest. Of course, I can understand if it was social or really important issues or interests of a person. However, being addicted to something, in this case reading, might result in missing out the big picture or being selective in appreciating.

I too read a lot. My situation is somewhat similar to you. It gives you a food for thought. Those who read too much are the ones constantly searching something to keep them occupied, to keep the clock in their brain ticking. Obviously its a good habit, as you come across many new thing every now and then. It helps you to develop a view about things and take your stand. Also a lot depends on what you are reading and where you are reading it from. It might seem weird but once you get this habit then there's no turning back. As far as 'too much reading on an issue' is concerned, I believe its the desire to search for something exciting something entertaining in their lives, or some sort of obsession which leads to such kind of habit. They try to constantly dig up whatever they find interesting and doing so they make up many perceptions about it. And then the excavation continues as now they want to find out whether or not their assumptions were correct.

I think the fact the wide spread nature of news and more people having the Internet has given people much more to read. And not only news, but also everyone giving their opinions, and some of them are very...intriguing, shall we say. I don't know how much I agree with a lot of what is being said online, but there are just times where people do have a lot of colorful opinions online and I'm sure people might have put a little too much a lot of it. Also, the more we know, the less we seem to understand and the more times weird ideas start to form in our heads to try and catch the odds of the understanding. Of course, a lot of the opinions that seem to be off the rails, when you think about it or at least when I think about, they are just going to be scarily right on the ball. Which might just prove that I'm among those who read too much about things and into things but there are people out there who are far worse. People on the Internet can be rather opinionated.

People read too much in some issues because maybe they are interested on the outcome or by the topic itself. Some do read because they want to be kept inform for it may affect their lives in the future. Personally, I have nothing against people reading too much on various issues as long as they do not imposed what they believe in to others. They say, ignorance excuses no one in law but I think it also applies in life. If we are well informed, we can make better decisions in the future.

Interest does fuel thinking and forming of opinions. I also agree that one's 'reading' is protected by freedom of expression but the person should always keep an informed and open mind. I think that there is already freedom on thinking and expressing but there should be one to in entertaining opinions or 'reading' that is not the same or in opposition of one's own. It's okay to believe something bullying, calling names, undermining or imposing otehr person's belief of opinions is a no-no for me.
