I just finished eating my breakfast. It is late though because I woke up late. My concern now is not about what did I eat awhile ago but it is about those wasted food. When I see people who are just wasting the food they are eating, I feel bad. It is because there are millions of people who are hungry and who do not have anything to it and then there they are wasting foods.
Every time I eat, my conscience tells me I should not waste it. I should just put in my plate enough for me so that there will be no leftovers. If there is, it is better to give it to those who need it.
Think of those people dying in hunger.
Have a good day!

I agree you should only consume the amount of food that your body actually requires . Over eating causes serious health problems as where wasting food causes wealth problems . The key here is balance . Balance your diet , less wasted food , giving you enough money to donate £2-3 per month on helping people less fortunate . Without charity and good will people will continue to starve and die of Malnutrition ......its a balance people . Also a guilty consciounce knowing that you have the power to save a life .

You are right my friend. It would also be considered as a sin of gluttony if we eat too much. We will really help others if we will eat only enough knowing that a lot of people now are hungry. Thanks dude for this wonderful response. I hope you will also not waste your food. Remember always this discussion and always think what is the best.

Correct my friend.
Specially at parties, people would pile lots of foods on their plates and ending up not wanting the taste of some foods and would finish with lots of uneaten foods on their plates.
I make it a point, when i am in a party, to just get some small amounts of each food, and taste them one by one when i am already in my seat. Only when i have tasted a food to be delicious would i go back to get some more.
That way, i finish every morsel of food in my plate.

I am really amazed at some people. They get a heapful of foods into their plate, and yet they would still go back to the buffet table.
They must have a very big stomach inside them, that all those foods could fit into them.

Oh my gosh! You are actually referring two of my classmate in college. They are so cute when they keep coming back to the buffer are to get some food. I think they just have the big appetite. I miss them now. Well, I don't have a big stomach because I easily get full even if I only eat a little.

I also think that we should not try to waste food and lots of people die of hungry and because they have nothing to eat. I think we should try to take less food when we are not hungry and try not to make any left overs. I think it is a good practice to take only what you need.

haha, yeah! It's good not to waste food because money is not easy to come by. People who waste food as those who has never been situations where they cant even afford to eat single meal Since young, my parents has always taught me not to waste food and i'm still doing it till now. No matter how much food i have on my plate, i will be sure to finish them all regardless of how full or bloated i'm :D As such, my appetite grew as years go by and yet i'm still of average build. I guess eating a lot really does help in keeping my weight in check.. lol

My father would always tell me to save money because money can't be find anywhere. It has be worked. It is easy to work so far and be away from the family. So, with regards to eating, I think it is one way also we can save money by not wasting it. Thanks!

I think it's good that you think that way. I have heard some people lecture about not wasting food, and by that they mean finish what is on your plate, no matter how much is there. Consuming less means there is more for others in theory, although it unfortunately doesn't always get passed on to those in need. However, I think leftovers are fine because by storing and eating your leftovers, you keep from making more food that could be given to others. Either way, it's shameful to waste food when others could use it.

Hello Mwilcox86! First of all, thank you. I wouldn't want to be one of those people who just keep on wasting food. I want to set as an example for others to follow. I do not say that I am good at it but as much as possible, let us be mature enough and be humanitarian in any way we can do.
For arviez, thanks for giving some sort of tips. I believe those are helpful.

People are quite wasteful these days due to the abundance of food. I agree that there are starving people out there but the government isn't interested in the people but what's on the people's land. I really hate the people who put on facebook like to save a starving kid in Africa and I tell them to get off and actually help them by going to Africa and giving them food.

Hello Runite! It is true that we have the rightful amount of food but these are not equally distributed. Still, many people are starving and poor enough that they can't afford to eat at least in a day.
Hello Faith! You are right. Everybody are allowed to help. There is no limit. Any aid is welcomed. I hope we guys those people who are starving.

there are alot of ways to help them you can always donate to bank accounts provided on some websites to help those who are starving in Africa but I would suggest that before we do help other why not we help our own people who are starving because of the calamities that we are experiencing...come on there are still those who have had experience flood, earthquake, and fire these past months. LLets help one another guys.

Hi cearn,
It is true many people are dying due to hungry; it is also true that many are wasting lot of food. A hungry person knows the value of food. I always telling my kids not to waste the food, I provide them with little quantity and if they need more I can give again, in this way I try my best to avoid wastage of food.
I shocked to listen from my friend, she knows somebody who worked as a cook in a rich family. This family never allows the workers to eat from there. Once they finish their work and should leave the place, even if left over foods are there, they won’t provide this food to workers. (To my utter shock that left over food is going to the dustbin in the next day) Cameras are everywhere in the kitchen to find out the activities of every worker. I can’t understand the mentality of such rich people.

Hello sreekala!
Yes, this is the reality we are facing now! People, governments and international organizations should cooperate now in order to stop hunger problem. Let's say I am campaigning for it. I just want to take part in helping. In this way, I was able to advice those people here in mylot not to waste those blessings God has given us.

I do not like waste food. If I take the food into my dish, i will eat them up unless they are bad to health. My grandma suffer from hunger when she was still young, so she taught us not waste any food in our life. And we all follow her teaching.
But many people here, even from poor families, waste food all the day. In their eyes, wasting food is the way to show their richness and high social status. I do not think so. I do not think a person can get other's respect from that kind of behavior.

You are right there dandan! Those rich people thinks they are the right thing in wasting food. They don't know that we in every food they waste, a lot of people could possibly been eating those wasted foods. I don't beg for that reason just to show how rich they are.

I try not to waste any food, and growing up we were told not to waste food, to think of the poor people around the world who would love to have the food we are able to eat. Suffice it to say, growing up anything left on the plate was to be left for or later or offered to others. If the others didn't eat it we were to leave it for later.

Yeah, I also hate those people who waste the precious food. I used to ask one of those people why they waste the food which could be used to save many poor people. He told me that they paid their own money for the food so that they could deal with it as their wishes. In my view, it's true that they pay for the food, but they should not forget that a lot of resources are consumed to produce the food and such resources belong to each human beings. A person should consume the food moderately.

It is really very precious my friend no matter how cheap or expensive those foods we eat. Everyday we need it to have an energy and to grow. Yes, they have the right to do what they want to do, buy what they want to buy and eat what they want to eat. Nobody is hindering them to do that. However, we must also think of those people who are very less fortunate. At least for once in a while, we try to be generous.

Wasting foods is strictly prohibited. We should just eat foods that we can cause too many out there are hungry and have no food at all.We have to be more conscious enough of giving importance to every food that we have.

That is very very very right...you know what I do the same everytime there will be family gathering if there are leftovers I always always make sure that either I gave it to street children or what or if it cannot be eaten anymore I gave it to those who have dogs or the people who collects leftover food for their pigs...It is not only because there are alot of people which are very hungry but also I always make sure to get the value of my money hhehehe food is not ask from the market you always NEED to pay for it so if you PAID for it I believe we need to maximize what we can get from it just that.

Those are very good deeds of yours my friend. If there are any occasions here in our house and there are left overs, I simply gave a take out to those who people who are left. Others, I would gave them out to my neighbors whom I am not that close with. Its just a matter of give and take.

I agree. I always try not to waste food.
One thing that really irritates me is when a restaurant/bakery/deli will throw away extra food at the end of the day. There are so many hungry people out there in the world that wouldn't mind eating food that was left over from a buffet, for instance. One restaurant I worked for had a buffet every day at lunch. Even if there was still enough to feed an army afterward, they'd just throw it away. What made it even worse is that there was a soup kitchen just a few blocks away. If it were up to me, I'd take all of the leftovers to the soup kitchen. Help people who are in need, since it would've been lost profit anyway. Ugh, it just makes me so mad.

I feel the same like you. I will not order many food since I know I can't finish them. It will be a waste. I will pack the leftovers and bring it home. I will feel guilty to waste the food as actually there are many people are still starving in the world. We are just lucky people. We shall cherish it.
I love China

We must put foods that we think we can finish them all. If it is big enough, then just make sure that you will finish it or if not try not to waste it by sharing it to others. Indeed, we are very fortunate enough to know and able to eat three times a day. We have to be thankful.

Yes, if only for the fact that many people are not eating well, and yet we are eating very well should make us give more value the consistent supply of food we have each day. Let's avoid wasting food. If possible leftovers should be avoid and if could not avoided they shouldn't be thrown away. There are ways to keep it from spoiling and we can also recycle left over food for the next meal.

Yes, we should practice the habit and be thankful too that we are not one of those people who have no food to eat. Also taking things only if we thought is enough for us and sharing what is in excess is a good attitude too.

you have started a wonderful discussion. It is really awful to see people and small children in African continents and many other parts of the world suffering a lot because of starvation. They dont have food for even a single time in a day. We are arranging a grand party or we are having grand wedding and wasting tons and tons of foods just like that. No one is feeling for This awful situation. We should not waste food and we should try to give food for people who are starting.

Thank you my friend if you find my discussion wonderful. I am very flattered.
Those particular places that you have mentioned are so crucial because there is a scarcity of food. If only there is a way we can ease them. I would surely willing to take part.

I never left any food on the plate. My mother always told me there are so many people out there that have no food to eat. They are eating from garbage and people left over from the restaurant. The best way if you can't eat all your food is give it to someone else. Even what I don't want to eat perhaps will be one of the most expensive food for those who have no money to eat.
