i've read an article yesterday about how the latest gadgets have been changing our way of thinking.... a simple example is that, in a small store here in a province of the philippines, instead of calculating the total amount of sales manually, they always tend to use calculators and rely so much into whatever flashes out of the screen. and nowadays, kids don't really mind the libraries anymore. every thing is in google and wikipedia! When we cough and have a runny nose, google prescribes the medication we must take.. we tend not to memorize data anymore because all we have to do is to press some buttons on our phones and viola! there goes the data we need. Seems unhealthy doesn't it?

Seems unhealthy if you only look at it that way. Before, we had to really look for information and lost a lot of time with that. Now, you can do the search easily and focus on the actual interpretation of information. Besides, most of what you find on the internet is a bunch of crap, so you still have to do a fair amount of searching and analyzing until you get what you were looking for. I remember when I had to do some complex calculations on a piece of paper, now I can do that on a calculator and use my time in actually doing something with that information. However, I do agree it's been taken too far. Most people nowadays don't want to have to do a single thing. I've heard lots of stories of people who were guided by their GPS into a lake (literally) or something. That's just plain stupid, you have to use your head, it's not there just to provide shadow for your shoulders.
