Being an Indian fan i always want India to win but this time i wanted India to lose in Asia cup that too badly. The reason is that if they would have dominated Asia cup it would have been perfect for IPL becoming a hit.BCCI is not bothered to take any actions or find out reasons of two whitewashes recently ,Sachin was sent to Asia cup to make sure that his 100th 100 is made before IPL, another USP for IPL.BCCI has no respect for test cricket fans or those who understand cricket well in India as they are few in number, they have converted cricket into soap opera and they are presenting cricket as an alternative to other prime time shows and all they care is about these audience.Still if India manages to beat Pakistan tomorrow and reaches the final , people will forgive and forget soon. But the reality is that just like 2007 ,India cricket is under a bad phase, however in 2007 measures were taken to put derailed India cricket back on track but will it happen this time when 2 months of cartoon cricket is coming up.

I don think, Indian loss on yesterdays match will make some impact On IPL..
Its all money game and it will continue..
BCCI have scheduled an one off T20 vs SA after this series, Its purely Aiming The IPL.
They just need to bring the Fans back to T20 Format.
IPL has fully changed the mode of cricket.
Its, understandable that some players are going behind money, But what can we do when a Nation's cricket Board itself give prime importance for money and Go behind Money..

Exactly. It's all about money, not the game. Only if we people discourage cricket, it will become a game.

I think Slowly cricket will be more enjoyed as club matches, similar to Football English Premier league and Spanish Premier league.BCCI have opened the stage for that.
England Already have county cricket, Australia also recently started T20 Tournament,Even Bangladesh Started T20 tournament Called BPL, And it was a success.
So in cricket International matches swill be less and T20 Club matches like IPL, BPL will get popular..because Both player and Board get money, And fans find it more Entertaining..This has affected Gentleman's game badly.
I wonder why BCCI is not Starting IPL for Women's team and Under19 teams, they will get more money right???

Hi grvdubey,
I agree with your sentiments but partly. While it is true that BCCI is not doing anything to avoid the shameful failure of our batsmen on overseas wickets particularly in Australia, South Africa and England, There is nothing wrong, I feel, in development of T-20 type of cricket after all India made its name in winning the inaugural T20 world cup. Then there is one section of cricket lovers who find five days of test cricket which seldom produces result even after playing for five days. They find interest in bang bang type of cricket which one can enjoy after office hours and gives lot of thrill and excitement.
I definitely feel that BCCI could do a lot in development of test cricket, which in minds of cricket lovers like you and me is ultimate an ultimate thing in cricket. I fail to understand why BCCI can not produce a fast track like that of Perth or wanderers and give sufficient training to our batsmen on such wickets before leaving for an important overseas tour besides playing some important local matches on such wickets. Their international schedule is so clamped that they do not keep even two weeks time for getting their players acclimatise to English conditions and the result is our batsmen fail miserably. IPL is not the cause of all this but dearth of thinking power at BCCI. Let us hope it will change some day.

I agree , there is nothing wrong if T20 cricket is developed or IPL becomes a hit. There is nothing wrong in making money too.But the problem lies in the fact that BCCI is running Indian cricket like a private firm.We have seen nepotism and favoritism in selection from so long, and there has been no attempt to find the reasons of thrashing defeats.Like you mentioned correctly , to win overseas batsman need to practice on pitches with swing and bounce, along with that India need lethal bowlers not fill up bowlers.Actually in alien conditions batsman will take sometime to adjust, hence teams struggle in couple of matches when they are playing overseas but if you have good bowlers you have a very good chance to do well. The problem here is with all the money ,resources ,coaches ,good facilities if India plays so poorly then something is very wrong somewhere.Sorry if i sound cynical but right now India has extremely weak bowling attack , and batsman who are vulnerable outside subcontinent.I dont have any personal problem with IPL, but basic logic says that if you do well in exams you have every right to enjoy your vacations, has India done well in exams, to enjoy their vacations? that's the big question here. Thanks a lot for your response.
