We have been sick really sick. Started on Monday for him and on Tuesday for me. Guess we got it from mom. Started out with fever, ear ache, sore throat, coughing, hot then cold, and not able to eat. One minute would feel like our chest was going to explode from all the coughing and couldn't breath! My heart seemed like it would explode from all the couching. We even slept in different rooms to keep from giving it back and forth to each other. This is the first time I have ever been sick a single day in my life and it seemed like death was standing there waiting to take us. My husband got so bad he debated with himself if he should go to the hospital or not. And the thing is I am one of those people that can't take too many kinds of medicine I am allergic to most things1 We don't have insurance. Like most can't afford. Have you gotten the flu? Did it make you feel like you was going to die any moment? What were your symptoms? Were you able to take anything for it? My husband took alka seltzer, mucus and sinus. Me I couldn't take the alka seltzer, but was able to take the sinus and mucus relief stuff. Mom made up some really hot drink and it helped us sweat it most of the way. So what are you able to do for your sickness? Thank God it seems to be going away a little each day!

If you have got flu the best thing to do is to 'sweat it out'. You'll probably feel really horrible for about 4-5 days and then hopefully it'll start to clear out of your system.
Try and get plenty of fluids because the sweating can cause dehydration, don't worry too much about eating and just try to rest as much as possible.
I hope you both feel better soon.

Maybe when you're having a good day you're trying to do things which are setting you back again. It might be worth seeking medical help for this seeing as it seems to have been going on for this long - something isn't right.

Whether I have money or not I get a flu shot every year, because I have had the flu a few times growing up and I do not ever want to have it again. It comes on fast, with a high fever, body aches and pain, headaches, dry cough. The bad thing is that it can go into pneumonia or other secondary infections and get even worse. The best thing is rest in bed and drink fluids and sweat it out like you did.

Flu is a virus. Antibiotics are not effective against viruses. On the other hand, if you have developed a secondary infection it is bacterial and the antibiotics would help. It does take a long time to recover your strength, even after the virus itself is gone. You are smart to drink lots of fluids, and be sure to eat very nourishing foods, eggs, meat, etc as your stomach allows. Soups are good things.

Hi GG never had the flu or anything like this before so never have taken a flu shot. Been in bed so long don't know if it is helping or making me feel worse. Tried to get up and out the last two days and seems like I feel pretty good when I am out but just wears me out to get around. Got to get out tomorrow got to go to the doctors. Hoping he will prescribe us some antibiotics. This guy we know said that everyone around here seems to have something like this. Been drinking a lot of fluids. One day we feel good the next morning we seem almost as if it is the beginning all over again. Don't know what it is but pray that The LORD will remove it soon!

We have had the same thing going on here. My son is still coughing and it has been over a month. It is mostly sinus and drainage in his throat. He was really sick for a little over a week. He also was take alka seltzer. It is the only meds I can get down him, as he won't take pills. He has Cerebral Palsy and it is hard to find meds for him.

i have just got over the flu, i have not had it for years, i ask my friends and family that if they are sick, NOT to call round because i cannot afford to take time off work, but no matter how many times i do this they come round, so i have taken to not answering the door if someone calls who is sick, i mean, why do they leave the house and pass on all them germs, why don't they just stay home until they are better, i had a cough, chest infection, fever, cough and it was awful, my head was pounding, my ears were blocked, i couldn't smell or taste anything, so i stayed home and took meds until i got better, i didn't even allow anyone round here to help me in case i passed it on to them, i still have a bad chest but i know that i need antibiotics, so i will pay a visit to see my doc, i hope you and your husband are getting better now

Hi Trinkabelle and welcome to my lot. Have to get out for one reason or another. Wish we could just stay home and not do anything but when you have no one else to help get the things we need we have to do it ourselves. But when we do get out we always tell people not to stand too close to us because we have what ever this is.

Flu is a more serious disease than the common cold. Since flu is a virus, there is neither exact medicine nor any antibiotics to treat it. All you can do is to give relief to each of its symptoms. For now I recommend that you get a yearly vaccine against flu. Also you may try some natural remedies. Sounds like they very same thing that my family just started getting over with. My daughter was the first one to get sick. I went to her house and dropped off medication for her that I picked up at her pharmacy she had a high fever and was coughing so much that she could not seem to stop. I took her to the Doctor the following day so that he could check and see if she was improving as she is asmatic. She coughed and coughed. Two days later i started feeling achy and cold. The next day I got up I was running a temperature of around 102, my son was complaining of feeling dizzy and I took his temp and it was 101. We felt horrible. We had to drive over 30 miles that day to get our groceries and we sat in the car while my husband went into the store and we were miserable. Between the horrible coughing and the fever and chills we could not wait to get home. We went straight to bed and stayed there the rest of the day and night. We tried getting up the next day but went right back to bed. We coughed and coughed and were so congested on top of freezing. I too thought we weren't goint to make it. I called the doctor the following day and he called in antibiotics for us. Five days later we finally got rid of the fever but the cough and congestion were still there, we did not feel like eating because it not only effected our lungs but our sinuses as well. Everything tasted horrible. It has been 3 weeks and I still have it in my sinuses and head. We still feel weak from it. My husband came down with it a week after we did and he got pneumonia form it. It to me seemed to be a cross between the bird flu we had gotton several years ago and a horrible cold. It was absolutely the most miserable time of our entire lives.

Hi Katie and welcome to my lot. Are you over it? We actually got a little better yesterday and we are people that will push ourselves to try and become stronger. My husband had been laid up in the bed from Monday till Thursday I was laid up from Tuesday till Thursday. I have never really been sick a day in my life. God blessed me that way. We think we got it from my husbands mother she goes to auctions all the time. And let's face it there are some people that are carriers of sickness but don't get sick, and we figure it was someone like that, that gave it to mom. She didn't know she had it till after we had seen her on Friday before last. Feel a little better today Thank God! Hope you and your family get over this real quick. Go to the doctor and get some antibiotics.

oh no poor free_man I hope you and your husband are getting better soon. I take some natural stuff normally when i have a bad cold, and this bronchitis pestered me for over a month till it subsided so that coughing sounds familiar.
I only take antibiotics if my doctor insists I do......

Hi RitterSport. We were able to get out yesterday and it was fine we felt the affects of it all though this morning. Mom makes this natural drink that has all kinds of natural herbs in it plus hot hot sauce. Forgot to mention in my post the headache we had felt like we had something real heavy on our heads put in a vice. Feeling a little better this afternoon. We go to the doctor on Wednesday so we will see if the doctor will prescribe some antibiotics. I hope you are all over the bronchitis. Thanks my friend!
P.S. Did you get your transfer yet?

Yes I have been sick like that years ago a few times when i thought I was gonna die. I try to take better care of myself nowadays and take vitamins more often. I think if you take some extra Vit D and C (gradually do this) it will keep the bad sicknesses away. The flu is the worst. I can't take all meds either due to my stomach illness. I mostly just take Tylenol extra strength even for my migraines. Sending you some prayers you both feel better soon. Hope you don't have any little ones there who can catch it next.

Thank you so much NailTech for all your advice. We try to take real good care of our health. This is the first time I have ever really been sick. My husband got this about 4 years ago and he did land up being put in the hospital thought he was going to die then. Thanks so much for the prayers! I hope and pray we never get this ever again!
