This is an under cover show, and in this episode, the actors portray a mother scolding/berating her son who wants to become a girl. It shows people who step in and speak up for the son. It's a very moving video. http://youtu.be/-R4vDcM65UI What would you do if you were in a booth nearby and overheard something like that?

Not speaking up does not necessarily mean the people surrounding them did not sympathize. There could be many reasons for not doing so. And those who did should be commended. In this day and age, they could have been taking their life in their hands to interfere and help this young man. Besides, I'd be mad if I was fooled like that.

Wow, what a touching video. If this very situation played out in front of me I would probably wait until the mother left and go up to the boy (who wants to be a girl) and tell him that it is OK and that his mother is just shocked and he has to find support elsewhere. If I heard a mother call her child 'disgusting' like she did at the beginning of this video well I would probably step up and butt in. That is a very hurtful comment that can cause long lasting psychological trauma. How awesome were those older PFLAG parents?!

Wow...very powerful video, Ladybug. I could not tell you with any honesty what I would have done having never been in that spot. IF I did decide to react, it would NOT be when the boy was alone. I would talk to both of them. The boy needs to understand that he told his mom something that is shocking to her and I can only imagine that when it is your own child, you need a little time to digest the news and accept it, maybe do some research. I would like to think that after the initial shock most parents come to be supportive even if not fully understanding the issue.I know that's not always the case. They both need help and support. I think the last couple handled it perfectly.

This is a very delicate situation indeed. But if you witness a scene like this the first thing that would strike you is the fact that they discuss this in a public place. This is more that strange. And than this is their own problem, who have the right to intervene?

As long as they are only actors portraying roles, I think it is okay to air this show. It gives a good example where people step in and speak up for the son. I think I like this show because it creates community awareness and teaches people to speak up against child abuse.
