When I was a child in grade school every summer I had to read 2 books a day of my choice in order for me to go outside and play. I chose a lot of movies that I enjoyed. It was kind of interesting reading a movie before it came out on VHS or now DVD. They seem to elaborate on things to keep you interested where when you looked at it on television those parts were skipped over or moved about quickly. My favorite book was "the color purple", it is sad how women were treated back then. Then women having children after children. I believe reading is a good way to focus on how you want your life to turn out. According to the books I read I have a lot of patience for people and believe that all things will work out in due time. What you read is how you see life. What books have you read that enhanced your thinking and helped you look at life in a different way?

Hi ymitchell42, When i am in school we have a moral science period in that we have to read books of our choice. I used to read all tale books which are really interesting and we can improve our reading and general knowledge also. Now i will tell my son to read some comic books so that he can improve his knowledge.
Have a happy sunday.

i was ever fond of reading books ever since i was small. i have never finished one single book to be honest. but i am more on watching documentaries on television. i love them so much that i learn a lot from it and i share it a lot with other people and they keep asking me where i learn all those things, and i tell them i watch National Geographic and Discovery Channel a lot.
but if there are books that i can say that changed my life, i have to say my books in college. i am a nurse and so i have to just keep reading and learning more.

I have always enjoyed reading and in my early years would ready by candlelight. In my teens I would use a flashlight, as was suppose to be sleeping and my father worked swing shift. My favorite book was Heidi and still enjoy the story of the little girl who clearly was very determined to make a difference. I think we all can make a difference in somebodies life in a good way.

I read a lot of books also: I love inspirational book about people who have struggle and have made it. I am also fond of reading suze orman's book on how to be financially free. I also like light novel just to unwind, the last book I read was the series of Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella, it's a funny girly book.

I have read since I can remember as I learned to read at a very young age. Depending on my age there have been books that meant al lot to me. The first one of them that was that important was Demian, by Hermann Hesse, the Nobel Prize writer. THen John Steinbeack was one of my favorites. I read The color purple when I was not young and I doubt that I would have understood it if I had read it when I was young. I would have missed the differences of speech that are so important in the book.
I think that many women still live like that in many parts of the world. And abuse and violence occur in every country in the world.

I want to be honest. In my life I have only read a book when I was in school, as this was assigned to me necessarily. I still remember the Italian title "Agnese va a morire" translated "Agnes goes to die." It tells the story of an Italian woman at the time of fascism. When I started reading, I was not excited, then going forward in the pages, I was so attracted by the story that I could not wait to know how went to finish the whole story. I think in effect that the book is "brain food". A good book is always a good book (This told by a professor).
