One of my pups has this condition and it pretty much means there's no way for her to poop because her rectum is too small, she was born february 9 and for some reason she is still alive today and looks as if she is pretty normal. Of course I love the fact that she's doing well but I don't want to rely too much on false hope, are there any vets here? I just want to know how long can a pup survive with this condition, about a week ago we did take her to the vet (and learned she had atresia ani) the vet was surprised that she is still alive, she should have died in just a few days according to the doc. The pup is currently taking 1ml of lactulose every morning and evening, it's not really helping her at all at taking her bowels out but I wonder if softens her waste enough that it liquifies and comes out her vulva?
