Super flu

A few weeks ago my family came down with this awful virus that I can only describe as a Super Flu. High fever, respitory infection and horrible cough. I have never experienced anything quite so uncomfortable and actually thought that we would die. The only way to describe this type of flu is by saying it was a mix between the bird flu and a horrible cold all rolled into one. Has anyone else experienced this type of flu?

No thankfully I haven't, but there again I do have the flu jab every year because I'm asthmatic. The last time I had flu was about 12 years ago when my son was a baby. I was laid up in bed for about four days, luckily for me my husband had a few days off work so he looked after the baby so that I could rest. I never want to go through that again.

My daughter is asmatic as well. She came down with it first. The doctor had her on so many different types of medications and put her on a breathing machine with albuterol. She is still feeling tired but is Thankfully much better.

She is doing so much better and each day we are all feeling better than the day before. The sinus part of it is still hanging on though. I promise not to send it that way.lol

You'll need to keep an eye on her with her breathing. I used to suffer a lot with illness related to my asthma and lost a lot of time at school because of it. Thankfully now though, medicines are far more advanced than when I was a child. I wish you all well, just please don't send it over to the U.K. lol!

This seems really horrible. Have you visited a doctor? This winter I've been lucky... Fingers crossed, because it's not over yet! I have problems with my lungs and anything like your Super Flu can knock me down. But this winter was so super cold that all the viruses escaped away from here . It was hard to survive with the cold and so many snow but as they say - every cloud has a silver lining. We had no flu epidemics until now.

Yes we went to the doctor twice and after nearly a month we are just now starting to feel better. Still not 100 percent but I can finally taste food again.

You should've gotten yourself checked up. You should be scared of sickness which are unknown to you. You could be inhaling the next anthrax or something and you may not be aware of it. The worst sickness I've had was a common cold. I had the worst cough I've ever had and I couldn't get out of bed because of dizzyness. I was also burning hot and I lost a few pounds while I was at it.

We actually did not know that there was a flu like this going around. The doctor had told my daughter that she had broncitis. Boy did we get fooled.

Hi! That is quite scary if that is really a super flu. I have never really experience with such a flu but normal flu, yes. Most of the time, when someone in the family get flu, the whole family members will slowly get infected one by one. So, what we can actually do is to consume more vitamin C to boost up our immune system to fight with flu.

Exactly and garlic is good to take as well. Even though we have already had this type of flu we are now taking garlic, vitamin c and multi vitamins. I sure don't want to risk another illness as this one.

I'm sorry you were so sick, that sounds awful. I don't think it was actually the Super Flu, but I have felt very ill and felt like I was gonna die before with some illnesses I have had. I pray no one in my family gets that, it sounds horrendous and don't want any hospital bills in case I get too dehydrated, etc. Be careful and keep healthy. Take extra Vit C and D if your Dr says you're OK to do so, that will help your immune system, but do it gradually leading up to alittle more every week.

The one thing that we did not do with this flu was throw up. But you were so miserable that throwing up would have been a minor inconvenience to this. we are in fact better and we did drink nothing but water. I do hope that we are now immune to this particular strain because I most certainly do not want it back.

We are all much better. You may want to start taking garlic and vitamin c. Hopefully this will help as to it not being as severe.

hikatie oh yes ind eed I spent Christmas day and most of Decembver ill then January oh myGod I had my flu shot in Nov., yet I was so sick I have never had the flu that bad, then it got into my bronchial tubes and I had bronchitis and the flu finally got to the doctor, it had turned into flu and walking pneumonia so a week of very strong antibiotics and by Feb 10th I was finally well again. I would c all it Super flu also. NOw my son has the stuff, and my roomie has a horrible cough.I am now hoping to God she does not give me a virus again. It gets me that for several years I had my flu shots and no flu no bronchitis but the day before Christmas I was so ill I thought I could die and it just kept on and on.first I had a bad cold or so I though my son brought me some medication for it and I was feeling pretty good then my roomie got a bad cold and once more I was very ill. I did not go to the doctor as I thought I could beat it but then I got sicker and was coughing up blood so I hurried to the doctor.,

It was unlike anything I have ever experienced. I most certainly do not want to get that one again. I am so glad that you are doing better and lets hope that once you have had it that you have built some immunity to that particular strain.

that sure is a bad, actually horrible flu i hope you feel better soon. just don't get out of the house until you are fully recovered because that is contagious. just take your medicine and take vitamins to boost your immune system and so that way it doesn't get worse. i have never experienced that and i hope i don't. it is just hard when we get sick because we are so unable to do what we have to do and what we want to do. take care.

This sounds horrible, I'm so glad you and your family are feeling better finally! The last time I had flu was a year ago, but it was a horror, too, that was said to be swine flu. I thought I would die, had very high fever for two weeks and coughed so much I couldn't sleep at all. We can't do too much to avoid these unfortunately, except boosting up our immune system... Take care!

definitely your not feeling well.. and this must not taken for granted, much better for you to do is consult a doctor so that he prescribe you the right medicine. give you informations on how it is transmitted, period of incubation, what are the things you need to do to avoid it..
