I have a convection oven - you know, the glass one that you sit on your bench top? I love it & prefer to use that...I want to bake a cake but have never done so in a convection oven...is there anything different I should do like reduce the temperature so it doesn't burn or adjust the time to bake? I will be making my cake from scratch if that's of any help...also, does it matter what sort of cake tin I use? Thanks for your help & advice in advance.

I have a convection as well and I always put my cake in the center as well as adjust the temperture by considering my altitude. This makes a big difference. For me I usually turn it down between 8 to ten degrees less than it calls for but I believe at higher altitudes it needs to be adjusted several degrees, but not sure if higher or lower because I am not at a high altitude so I never really read that part. You enjoy your oven.

I bought a convection oven last year and love it.
Unless making a lot of something or want leftovers my convection oven is fine for every food imaginable.
I am sure different ovens do different temp ratios, so when you make your first cake start checking it approx 10 minutes to finish.
My cakes have come out the same as in a regular oven.
I have not noticed any difference as far as texture, or quality of any item.
K now I want cookies so guess I better get to baking LOL
Good Luck with your baking and let us know how it turned out.
