Do you store your clothes from the previous season?

In Minnesota we prepare for the upcoming warm weather by bringing out all our skirts, dresses, shorts and short sleeved tops. But my fall/winter/spring clothes have to go somewhere. We also have charities who come around and get the clothing that's in good shape that we will never use again. We have a lot this year to donate. I weight 100 lbs less than I did a year ago. My husband is finally getting rid of clothes he hasn't used for years. He is no longer "hot" in some clothing that only youth should wear.
Do you do this, or do you have clothes that can only be worn for specific reasons?

I found a lot to donate too! Actually I am in Minnesota too (where abouts are you? I am in the Minneapolis/St Paul area). I have not put my winter clothes away quite yet because I am thinking it is still going to snow (some years we saw snow through the month of May! You probably know that though - LOL). I don't trust this nice weather. But just yesterday I found about an entire garbage bag full of shoes, clothes, and miscellanious things to donate - it feels GREAT to downsize! Especially when you are giving them to a charity that you know is for a good cause. So, I've done a little bit of spring cleaning with the nice weather, but I haven't put my winter stuff away yet. It's hard to predict what the weather is going to be like, though, especially in this state.... Happy MyLotting!

Then you and I are neighbors! I'm in Robbinsdale. We went up to the "summer place" last weekend and it was strange not to see budding trees in these temperatures. "Ice out" occurred all the way up to Princton this weekend. That's Hwy 169 and the lake is on both sides of the road, if you know where that is. Mile Lacs is just about thawed as well. This coming week end we expect to see it cleared of ice.
HI neighbor!

Wow that is so awesome that you weigh 100 pounds less then last year. You must feel so good now and have a lot of clothes that no longer fit. I usually keep my clothes until they wear out and then either throw them away or donate them. Right now the weather is very nice so I need to wear t-shirts but in a week or so it will probably drop back down cold again and possibly even snow so I wouldnt pack the clothes away. I just have my winter stuff hanging in a closet and the summer stuff in dressers.

I would love for it to be that warm around here all the time. I hate it being cold but yes lol you guess right I am on the east coast. I am in Pennsylvania. We had a really nice winter though it was very mild so I cant complain but still I'd rather it be at least 70 year round.

I have some clothes only for specific reasons summer and winter clothes too. I don't store them anymore since I don't have that much clothes as I had as a kid (my mom did store them).

So you don't have as many clothes as you used to? I only ask because we are slowly working our way in that direction. I plan on having removed as much stuff from my house that we've been storing. We are slowly getting the house ready to sell. That could happen any time between now and when we retire, 10 years from now!

I do give old clothes I know I'll never wear again for charity, but I do not store the previous season's clothes. I have plenty of items that can be worn in all seasons, and my closet is big enough for all of my clothes. And I like having them together. :)

I make my daughter go through her things every now and then to try and get rid of what she doesn't wear anymore. But other than that since I can't really afford much I make her keep her stuff and so does the rest of my family.

we do get hand me downs from a few people and i sift through them but we are in southern ontario, Canada and so we get 4 definite seasons per year plus, you never know how the seasons will turn out. this winter was fairly warm so i didnt really wear too many of my heavier sweaters but i wouldnt want to get rid of them because who knows what next winter will be like? same with summer. we have had cooler summer and also really hot summers so it is best to be prepared.
as for me, i got a big trunk from a co-worker which she was getting rid of an this is what i use to store a variety of off season clothes such as capris during the winter and turtlenecks during the summer.

Well I actually do not. There are sweaters added to warmer weather clothing to accommidate Fall and a coat for winter, as the weather starts to warm then the coats and sweaters come off in order to accommidate summer. It would be nice to be able to have certain clothes for different seasons but this is the way I was raised and this is the way I raised my children. There was never enough money to be able to buy extra clothes when it was more important to be able to buy food. We may have not had much but we got by.

After I started working full time I had to buy clothes. Then when the children were out of day care I could afford to expand. But I just got rid of half of it. I remember sewing all my kids shorts all summer long. The only thing that cost some money was the elastic waist bands.
