Where do you usually respond to a discussion? From your e-mail notification or direct to your mylot homepage? It is easy for me to respond a discussion from my e-mail notification than directly to my mylot homepage. On this I can respond to my friends discussion and I can read all the whole discussion not like in the home page you can read only the titles. For the newbie, there is a setting under mylot preference and notification you can check the box if you want to receive an e-mail notification for all of your friends discussion.

For the newbie, there is a setting under mylot preference and notification you can check the box if you want to receive an e-mail notification for all of your friends discussion. .. or to be precise, the link is here: http://www.mylot.com/nr/editNotifications.aspx http://www.mylot.com/nr/friends.aspx?t=0 Personally, I always check my email notification. But it doesn't mean I will response back to them all. If I have nothing to say, then I will just go on to other discussions..

Thank you for that very friendly tip for us newbies to become aware of what is going on in mylot and friend's discussion. I just wonder why your discussion haven't arrived in my inbox? Is there something that I need to do or something I missed? Your next tip would be a great help to me. Anyway, I don't know if the mylot search bar gives earnings these days. Thank you and I just noticed a change in your avatar. is that you now?

Other than that, there also a possibility of delay. I noticed that sometimes myLot email notifications are not real time - and even at the other time, they don't send any notifications to me, while actually there should be some notifications..

Well, since I also get so many other Email coming to my Email address, this actually would be a harder way for me to keep up what little time I sometimes have to be active here. I have gone thru from time to time to catch up on some of the discussions I might have missed, but for me it is also easier to just open up a link to a discussion and check and see if I am interested in responding to it from there.

Yhea your right KrauseHome , I've been away to mylot for almost 3yrs but I did not turn off the notification through my email. I still enjoyed reading discussion from mylotters only I don't have a chance to respond. Although it help me a lot not to forget mylot and it is easy for me be back again.

I always respond to discussions from email notifications, either from friends or from the myLot digest. I put all the new discussions and digests into a folder and whenever I have time, I go in to the oldest ones and respond to those that are interesting. I am about 8 months behind right now because of school and illness. Have a great weekend!!!

i responded to this discussion from my email which i also feel more comfortable. i prefer to respond from email so i won't be influenced by other responders. although this one could be considered a disobedience to the guidelines, "not to respond to a discussion until you've read all of the responses."

I agree with you, I did that most of the time, unfortunately so far no incidence of same response with others. If there's one thing in common maybe on the perspective only but not the whole concept.

Yes they come very handy to me, mainly when engaged in a discussion with many responses, I just see the popup on my desktop saying there was a response and can jump directly here. The digests and friends notifications are also handy to find new topics to response or comment. I rarely surf the page now, because I don't have that much time to keep up with that many discussions (in fact, my time is short, there aren't thaaaat many really). I'm not a newbie here anymore, but it still comes very handy. I guess it's most up to each one to choose if you will use notifications or not.

I agree with you. Responding from an email notification is more effective. If your friends start a discussion, you are notified. Also when your friends respond to your discussion, notification will be sent to you. I prefer this way.

It is good that you have shared a very nice tips here. As for me, i usually would begin my day, posting in Mylot through my email notification. Because i will open my email first, before i begin to check through Mylot homepage for discussion. i see myself busy sorting through my emails and replying to those discussions which i have ideas to share. I am happy to see there are many that have this type of same tips to begin their posting activity in Mylot.

For me it's easier to respond on discussions directly to the mylot homepage because after responding to my friends' topic I can easily grab any topics shown on top and comment on it.

I usually check my email and respond from there to most of my responses/comments only if I have something importance to add.

I agree with you my friend. It is a lot more easier to respond on mylot notification, wherein there is an option for you to read the whole discussion wherein it will serve as a basis sometimes especially if I had a hard time relating to the discussions.

I don't go by notification, usually I just check responded. Although I can say it is easier to check through email if who responded us back. Just like what you said, it is limited through email, unlike going to the homepage where we can read back the whole topic. This is a good topic for newbies anyway, well done :)
