Hello mylotters!!..WOW,it's been weeks since my last visit here in mylot. There are so many things that had happened to me these past few weeks. One just come so instantly and unexpectedly. It happens so fast, just in a day and I was thinking that it was just an ordinary stomach pain.I never thought it would end up me having appendicitis. We were like, in silence and couldn't believe when the doctor said it had to be operated right away. And now, I don't have my appendix anymore but I'm beginning to get back my strength.
Some says that our appendix doesn't have any purpose inside our body. When my uncle had gall stones and had to removed it, the doctor also removed his appendix. Does that mean its really not important in our body? And if so,then why its still included?
..Thanks in advance..

It is my understanding the appendix is not important..so many have their's removed and are just fine.
I'll tell you an advantage to having it removed..you no longer have to wonder if the pain in your side is appendicitis. That is a huge advantage!!!

From my understanding of it, the appendix is a vestigial organ. Once upon a time, when we were still more chimp-like than we are now, we ate bark, shoots and leaves among other things and I'm sure that the appendix played a role in the digestion of these. I'm sure that in another few million years, it probably won't be there any more. Though at that stage I don't think humans will be around any more either, we'll have killed each other and this planet by then!
