Flash looses sound when paused

I've only noticed this problem recently and it's very annoying. I'm using a Pentium 4 computer with Windows XP and as far I can tell this problem applies to all browsers, but not all sites with Flash (e.g. I've never noticed it with YouTube). This seems to be a problem with sites that use Flash for shows and has adverts in them. When you pause the show for more than a minute or so (not sure of the exact time or if it's consistent), when you re-start the show, there's no sound. The only way round this is to reload the page but then you have to sit through some more adverts. Sometimes you can be cleaver and pause the show just before an advert, but then it seems to go wrong a few minutes later and you have to mess around and have to see some more adverts. I'm guessing this is some ploy to force you to watch more adverts or pay for the version without the adverts. Is there any way round this?
