This was one of the most controversial goal I ever saw, and was lucky to be watching the match live in TV. Last Sunday in an ordinary match for the highest category of Argentine football tournament between San Lorenzo and Colón, San Lorenzo was winning 1-0 when a shot from a Colón player hits a defender and falls in another attacker that was clearly in offside. Lineman raises the flag and all players stop action, but the player with the ball continues nevertheless and after a pass, yet another player just pushes it into the goal, believing that it wasn't even valid. But the referee says that the lineman was wrong and the play was legit, and validates the goal, for the surprise of everyone there.
Watch the video of the polemic goal: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/soccer-dirty-tackle/referee-allows-blatantly-offside-goal-anger-ensues-184330482.html
Everyone at San Lorenzo after that was claiming it wasn't goal really and a great trouble followed, after a couple of minutes the gameplay could continue. Meanwhile the Colón players, still in surprise, were just celebrating the received gift. The referee was menaced by the fans in the stadium and after leaving.
The rules clearly states that to be valid, the defender must be playing the ball with full control and not just a casual bounce, which was the case here.

The goal is simply ridiculous. The linesman flagged for offside. The defending team stop playing and some of the attacking one too. The only time that I can't be sure of is the referee hand signal. From the video, it looks like the referee has put the whistle in his mouth but the hand signal does not look like he is giving a free kick for the offside.

The referee actually never signaled offside, and even hand signal was for the lineman to make him lower his flag, he was so sure that he allowed the play to continue against his assistant criteria. Everyone looked at the raised flag and stopped, and the attacker just put the ball into goal "just for fun" but even he believed that it wasn't valid, until everyone from the defender was protesting the referee. Not even them believed it was really a goal.
