At present, I can speak English besides mother tongue. I like foreign language. So, I want o learn more an other langue. My husband said that I should learn much English. Because my English skill is not enough excellent. However, I must say that I can study more English. It seem saturated ! I like French. I love it's voice. French is quite popular after English. How do you think about French? Should I learn it? Please advice.

First ask yourself why you want to learn new language and then go for it.Thinking which one to choose? Hmm..I think if you got the first answer you will definitely know which one is good for you.Good luck!

Oh whatever you do, do not choose French! Unless you live in a country where French is a second language, do not learn it. If anything, learn some more English and then choose Spanish. Sure, English is extensive and 'boring', but it is almost an universal language. The more English you know, the better off you will be. When you are fully comfortable with the language, then you should move onto a 'secondary' language, like Spanish. Of course, if you don't live on the West Coast of the US (or similar heavily populated Spanish speaking areas), go ahead with French.

Could you explain me why I shouldn't learn French? French is quite popular in my country. I'll study more English, of course. I'll try to look for a good way to do this.

Looking at your profile, you probably shouldn't learn Spanish then. Personally, I still stand by the English suggestion. You won't be sorry. Also, you should look at other languages as well. You might find one that is more interesting.

French was a part of your culture wasn't it? So go ahead and learn it. But as your husband says you still have some way to go on your English skills. I can understand and can even relate to your feeling saturated with your efforts at mastering English. Learning French will certainly provide you with a diversion. Please do think about whether you can handle both at the same time. If you can, there is nothing like it. If not, take up something that is totally unrelated but is still engaging.

Thank you for you advice. I think that French will give me some new thoughts to begin studying English again. Besides, English and French have much in common. They can complement each other when I was studying. Do you think this is well?

I think English is the most important second language today. Almost all countries and people in the whole learn this language as their second language. I can imagine if we can master English I can communicate with all people around the world easily. yeah, maybe not all people in this world think same thing like I do. but we can't deny that English has become the most important international language for today. in my place, English is taught since at very early age. children in my place start learning English at 4 or 5, even for some family, they teach introduce English to their children since they were born. so I think I agree with your husband that it's better for you to master English better that today, especially the speaking skill. but if you really want to learn French, go for it. It's nice mastering a skill which other people don't. good luck for you then!

thanks for saying that to me, friend. I really appreciate it and, yeah, I'm flattered..LOL..I still believe that practice makes perfect. so by making many practices you will meet perfection someday. I'm also a very ordinary person. English is not my mother language. I started learning English when I was 10 or 11. Little bit late for a student but English was not too popular at that time and my government set English was taught in Junior High School. just like you, dear. I like English but I don't have any opportunities to learn it further, in a conducive situation. but I keep move on. I push myself not to be lazy to open the dictionary every time I find new word which I don't know the meaning. I do this regularly, and woilaaaa..!! my vocabularies increase significantly. and don't be shy to practice your speaking every time you have a chance. mistakes is common happened but don't be shy and don't give up. all I want to say is just practice and practice. good luck!

I really was convinced because of your comments :) I used to feel sad because I can not go further when learning English. I so want to capture all the skills, but I can not even tried in many ways. It looks like I was saturated, can not absorb more knowledge. Do you have any advice for me?

You can always learn as many different languages as you like. Still, how are you going to master them? I have learned Deutsch(German), Francais(French) and Espanol(Spanish), but my problem is to master them. I need to practice, not just learn. Learning languages is useless if you're not going to use any. You may have to study a language in high school whether you like it or not. If your goal is to be able to speak French, for example, then you need to find a native speaker of France. The most effective way is to go and spend time in Francophone countries (countries that speak France as a national language). Same with English. Lots of people go study abroad in US, Australia, UK, and other English speaking countries. Certainly, you need to be able to know some English first. In that way, you will be able to converse in the language. The questions: What is your goal? Do you want to go study in a foreign country? Do you want to live and work there? Do you want to immigrate to other countries?..... Is it for a jobs?....

I personally can not tell you what language you should learn well, but one thing is certain, I in your place, the increasingly perfect English. This advice because the English language is the most popular in the world. You'll have less trouble in the future, on the job. etc.. However, the choice should be only yours, if you prefer the French, free to learn. That's what I wrote is just my opinion. Make a good choice.

If I were asked with this question, the language that I would choose to learn would be Spanish. I really wanted to learn this language because, the native languages here in the Philippines somewhat originated from the spanish language so by learning it, I would be able to communicate or atleast understand some of the native languages here.

Polish your English then learn another language that you think would benefit you and that you can use in a daily basis. Because I think if you do not practice it , your learning will be lost. Good luck on your endeavor.

If I were you, I would learn Spanish. The Hispanic population is increasing. Fluency in Spanish is a very marketable skill. Many jobs are seeking someone that is fluent in Spanish.

If I were you, I would prefer learning French. My English is broken too, but I believe I can improve much through readings. Since learning a new language need time, it is better to learn when we are young.
