There are really quite a few reasons why a computer slow. I'm not an expert but it seems one probable reason is that the disk space of your hard drive might be nearing it's full capacity. This is one of the common reasons why our PCs becomes slow. You might want to check if it is almost full and delete some of the files and/or programs that you no longer need. Videos and photos eat up huge amount of space for example.

Could be an abundance of used memory, or possibly trojans getting in with the movies you download. Simple fix is download a computer cleaner (such as advanced system care) and you clean you Registry, Hard drive, Browsing History, Malicious software, and malware. It even comes with a defrag system. I highly recommend it and it is completely free.

There are nearly half of dozen reasons here, if it is several years old, it is no doubt will be slower compare to when it is new after all these years of usages. It can also because of virus, spyware and malware causing the problem. It also can be caused by too many resource hungry software and application you added recently to further slow down the old computer. Overall, it is either one of the reason or combination of all. Just ry to delete and uninstall all the unnecessary application first, may be it can run faster after this, making it not necessary to do more testing later.
