I have been taken to task because I did not let my myLot friends know that I was in hospital having cancer surgery. I am now home again and on the mend. I shall be confined to bed for about a week and then can start to move about again. I still have to wait for four weeks before I discover whether my tumour was benign or malignant. There's much more but the main thing is that I am still alive. Have you been to hospital recently?

I'm sorry to hear that you had cancer surgery. I went through that a couple of different times (2003 and 2011). What did you find out about the tumor? I know when they did my surgery in 2003 they were able to get an answer within days, but I guess it might be different in different places. I hope things are going better for you now. I was in and out of the hospital several times this year due to complications from chemotherapy. Have a great weekend!!!

GREAT NEWS!!! Yes, I was one of the ones who was getting worried as to the outcome of your surgery!!! Fortunately for me I've not been required to have an overnight stay at a hospital for over 20 years (knock on wood). The closest I've come was when both my Mom & Dad were in the hospital within the last 4 years. I DESPISE hospitals!!! The food sux & you're seldom there because you're healthy. Not feeling good & lousy food do not a good time make!!! I even chose to go to Urgent Care when I broke my wrist in order to avoid the hospital!!! I'm just soooo freakin GLAD you back & hopefully healthy!!! You will let us know what else the doctor has to say after your follow-up won't you???

I am glad to hear that your surgery went well, and it sounds like you are recovering nicely. I hope that the follow-up tests confirm this.
I have been to the hospital recently more times than I would care to remember, but fortunately (knock on wood) none of them have been for me. I do not want to go back there again any time soon, but I suspect that it will not be long before I will have to make that trip again. I guess that is what is to be expected when you have elderly parents and young children.

I should think so. Some others here post regular health news regarding their on going medical details and that's rather tiresome so I'm pleased you don't do that but this sort of item is NEWS (insert fanfare here).
Glad to hear you are on the mend if not all there...a bit of "if thine eye offends thee pluck it out" can only be a good thing right?
Last time I was in hospital was to visit Dad a few months back when he'd had a nasty fall outdoors during the night. He recovered but has since passed away.
You keep in touch now y'hear.

Good to see you back!
You did mention it in one of your last topics and I left best wishes there. I was only thinking yesterday that I had not seen you back and wondered...
No I haven't been to hospital lately. The last time was December 2010 to have a polyp removed from my nose and the time before was in 2004 when I spent seven weeks there waiting for them to find out what was wrong with me It turned out I had a rare virus which just left me extremely tired and, apparently, no other consequences.
I hope the waiting time until you hear the results will not wear you out Pike. I know it must be awful not knowing what the outcome will be. Fingers and toes crossed for you!

I know that I will have to go in a few years time for my eyes. Cataracts and something else more serious which I forget the name of will hospitalise me once it starts to take hold but that should not be yet.
Please keep yourself busy so that you don't have time to think about it. This place seems to have got busier agaion so you should be able to amuse yourself here

Hello Pikey,
it is good that you are home but please take it easy and not doing things too early, no, I have not been in hospital for a long time and don't want to go in again, I was not treated well there as they kept missing my meals.
Please rest as mush as possible and glad you are on the mend.

OMG Pikey! You can't just spring things like that on us! I am praying
that all is well and you are going to be fine! Please tell me you are.
I haven't been around much myself due to some health issues myself and
now all I am reading is bad news about people that I care about! Please
let me know what is going on with you. You were one of my very first
"special friends" that I met here! Please be well~ Love & Hugs, Leslie

I didn't spring it on people Opal. I posted my diagnosis back in January. Fingers crossed now that I am clear but the scans etc will confirm that. Currently I am post-operatively sore, but OK otherwise. I am not allowed to move about much as they don't want the stitches that hold my kidney together to tear. I am keeping cheerful though. No other way really. Keep smiling! XX

Again my dear p1key I am so very sorry that I missed your discussion. I had
a very severe case of Bronchitis from the end of November until the end of January
and was almost hospitalized myself. It took me long enough to get to the Doc as
it was and I just narrowly got by without it becoming pneumonia. So I had no idea what was going on here and I am just so terribly sorry I didn't know about your
kidney issues. I will continue to pray for you. Please take care!

Well I have been to the hospital a lot. Actually almost everyday, but not as a patient but as a student nurse. But even so I have never tried being a hospital patient (thank God for that), I know that it is not easy being one. For me the hospital atmosphere tends to be boring and sometimes it is not conducive for healing specially if you are in a public hospital. Plus it causes anxiety specially if you are to undergo invasive procedures which involves incisions, injections, and anything bloody.
I say to you now, welcome home. :)

Not in the hospital, but i did have them stick a very looong needle into the side of my face to look at a tumour I have. Fortunately for me, I didn't need surgery for them to check it out. I got the results back, and it was benign. Still can't decide if I think it needs to be rmoved or not.

I saw on that other location updates from your daughter.
I'm tired of hearing my friends have cancer, and I hope your tumor turns out to be nothing to worry about.
Last time I was in hospital was in Sept of 08 for that pesky gall bladder, but I've been having some odd pains in my gut again that had me worried.
Hurt Sunday and Monday nights but not tonight.
I suspect it is either 1) a new allergy, maybe a stronger reaction to chicken that I ate both nights but not tonight or 2) another "pre-ulcer" event. I've had 3 previous ones, but when they do happen, they are about 7 years apart and it becomes difficult to remember how it feels.

I shall be incapacitated for much the same amount of time. However, I have much to keep me busy, mentally at least. A friend (an anaesthesiologist) just asked me what my phone number is. I had to think! He said that it's a good way to get ones cognitive systems working again. Works for me. I remembered it. XXXX

I was thinking of you yesterday as it happens P1kef1sh, and wondering how you were doing. I´m glad to hear that you´re home and still kicking. It is a difficult thing, knowing whether to ask after online friends. I feel I know you, certainly enough to care, yet I do not at all. So forgive my not inquiring, I figured that if there was something you wanted us to share then you would let us know.
In answer to your discussion, the last time I went to hospital was with my son back in the summer when he took a blow to the head. I´ve not been to the hospital on my own account for a long long time, and I thank my lucky stars daily for that.

hello, i did not know that you had a tumour and were going to have surgery for it.I am glad that it is over and that it was successful.I sincerely do hope that the tumour turns out to be benign and that you recover completely.I will pray to God for you.In 2008 i got an external tumour called as Hemangioma at the base of the spine. There was alot of bleed ing and then it got infected as pus started flowing out with the blood.I was taken to hospital for suregery which took only 20 minutes and i was given local anaesthesia by injection. After the operation i was discharged after an hour.No stitches were put and the open wound was dressed.Everyday the dressing was removed, the wond cleaned and after applying the ointment fresh dressing was done. It took me almost a year for the wound to fill up and heal. Now its completely alright.
