Maybe I am reading too slow, I haven't finished this book yet

Maybe I am too busy on doing other stuff, or I am reading too slow. I borrowed a book from a co - worker, but it is over 2 months already, although he never asked me to bring it back, I felt that I took it too long to read it. I flip on the pages today, I only finished half of the book, what about another half. Should I take another 2 months to get it done? Or maybe I am not interest in it? Anyway, I want to finish to the end, I want to finish the book though. So, would it take you too long to finish reading a book? If it is a fictional novel.

A book by a good author - This is one of the good books in the stores.
Just keep on reading and what matters is you grasp every word ...Feel every word. That is how you will enjoy the book

I suspect you are bored with the book, it doesn't really interest you. If you are truly interested in it, you would keep reading and reading until you realized you're already on the last chapter. I usually take 5-7 days reading a book. 3 days is the fastest I've ever read a book and that book excited me so much that I cannot stop reading it until I finished fast. The longest I've ever read was more than one month and that was boring book for me. If it took two months, I will not finish it anymore, it will be just a waste of time.

i don't typically read fiction but i tend to go a little crazy when i order books from the library so i tend to skip through them some and not read every word. most of the books i read go into too much detail so i just glean what i want out of the book. i am a history fanatic so that is what i read mostly.

Yes, it seems that you take a long time reading this book. And if this book is good enough, you should finish it very soon in my opinion. But I don't think quitting it is a good habit. You shall tell your colleague that you haven't finished reading this book and you hope to keep it for two months so that you can have enough time to finish it. It is better to tell him this. Otherwise he will think that you will not return this book. Don't leave bad impressions to others, especially your colleagues. I love China

I have done that before. There were times I would read a book real fast an other times when I do not. I know when I have things on my mind and I feel unsettled, it takes me forever to finish a book. But when I feel content, then I could read it through practically.

Well, maybe you don't have enough time to read the book or you're reading another one too. But I think it's not necessary to read a book rapidly, but to take the time to meditate about what you're reading on it.

Usually if I am really interested in a book, I can finish it in just a day or two. the longest will be a week. But if I am not that interested, it will last about a month or mostly won't be finishing the book itself. Probably you just think you want to finish the book but you are not really interested with it. If you are you will really take time to finish it despite your busy schedule.

I wouldn't take very long to finish a book, especially if the book really interests me. However, I had the same problem with you recently. I borrowed two books from the library, but I never really get around to reading them. I take the due date of the library books as indication. If I was already reading and enjoying it, I would extend the due date. But if I barely scratched the introduction, I would probably return the book. I finally returned the two books I borrowed and grabbed another book. It's just been a couple of days, but I'm already one-third through. So I guess it could be that the book does not interest you enough. I read a lot of non-fiction books. Even though I normally choose the same topics to read about, which is about business, investment and personal finance, not all writers can capture your attention. So if I were you, I'd try to complete the book at the next sitting or return it promptly. You actually reminded me of a book my colleague lend to me. It's also sitting on my desk. Even though the topic is interesting, the book is rather dry. Will try to look into that soon or return it. I'm terrible!

If I really like a book I usually finish it in 2 or 3 days. If I don't find the book very interesting it can take me months to finish it because I only read a few pages at a time. Tomorrow I have to return a book to the library and I started reading it a long time ago. I read it quite slowly, because I didn't find it that interesting. On the other hand I wanted to finish it since I had already read about 70% of the book. I renewed it several times and now I am unable to renew again, so I have to return it to the library without reading the rest of it.

Sometimes when you're not that interested in a book, it's harder to finish. In fact, with me that's how it always is. I just finished a book called "The Post Card Killers" by James Patterson. I usually really like crime/mystery novels, but this one..I just couldn't get into. The plot was a little weird and I didn't think the writing of it was all that compelling. Defiintely not page-turning. It probably took me 3 weeks to finish this book (I just finished it yesterday), whereas a normal crime/mystery novel will take me about 4 days to read if it's good.Even if I dislike a book, I still always want to finish it! I don't know why I don't just GIVE UP halfway through. But I do like to finish what i start. I try to put time away each day to read - usually about 10-15 minutes before bed. Even if I dislike the book, it helps me go to sleep. Just try to put some time aside each day to read, and I'm sure you'll finish it in no time.

Since I am a bookworm, nope, it doesn't take long for me to finish a book and I always finish book I start reading. I usually finish 2 books a week, 1 book if it's quite thick. There is exception though, last week, I abandoned a book because it was so horrible, I couldn't stand it. The writing style is sophomoric, the dialouge and scene are repetitive, I don't have much time and I have many books waiting to be read, so I had no choice. Maybe the books isn't your thing. Find your favorite genre first, it helps you to keep motivated. If you are determined to finish it, then go on read it. A good book is a page turner, you'll reach the last page before you know it.

Well all in the right time. There are books that catch more the interest, for example there are books that you are in the mood right now, not fiction novel for sure. But if you read something else it would be more useful. Sometimes I'm into drama movies, for example, but there are years that I go without watching a single one of them because I can't stand. I can read Agatha Christie all periods of my life, but for example self help...I just don't have the patience, the last one I read it was more than 10 years ago, but when I did it was fast.

I think you are just not interested in the book. It would not take you all that time if you really found the book fun and interesting to read.

Just like what others have told you, maybe the book doesn't interest you. Or, in my opinion, you are too busy with work. So when you have a free time, you really want to use it for a rest. I say this because that happens to me too. Lol. I've borrowed three (or maybe four) novels and books from my friend but I haven't got a time to read them. :( And it's already more than two months! :D However, I have brought my interest in reading again these days. I can finish one novel in one day. So I think I'm going to start reading again, before I'm losing my passion again. Lol.

Do you really want to finish reading the book? Maybe the book just didnt interest you. I do not think it would take that long if you are interested in the book and if you read often. I have read many books, in any genre. Usually it would take me a day to read a 300 plus pages if the book is interesting and a day and a half or 2 days if it is a so so book. But of course there are also books that i did not finish or would finish it if i am really bored.
