I notice one of my office mates get really better job offer and tender his resignation soon..He actuall is well known as loyal, calm and steady employee while working. Means, when people talk about new job vacant on advertisment or any job opportunities in our working field, he stayed calm and never talk anything.. He also always seems not enthusiastic to talk about other job and really working hard with high motivation..However, the looks sometimes fool us..He was the one who successfully get better job with better salary on other company..Even, we had never know when he got interviewed or got offer call, even he works in the same room with us..This is really opposites with some people around who always get excited and tell everybody once he got interview call but seems everytime he failed to get that job until final process or job offers.. what do you think about this type or person? What you usually behave if working in unpleasant office and trying to get out from your job?

Well, all i can say is "silent water runs deep". He was as you said just calm, loyal and steady employee, but deep inside he really wants to be out of the company. It was also smart of him that nobody knew about his plan. At least, he informed everybody, just as when he was sure that he is already hired in another company. Unlike others who announces their job application, and not hired after all. AT least, had the calm person not hired by the other company, he wouldn't be humiliated of having announced about it.

Its normal for people to talk about their job offers, and it is also normal for some who does not talk about them. I mean, it spares you the comments and whatsoever if you are still with the company after being so open about wanting to leave. I remember an officemate before we got on the same start date, and training date even during those times, he is saying our company was no good, and he's really very easy to be irritated... and well most of us in the team has already left and then he is still there until now. Latest i heard was that he was supposed to be given a senior role but because of his being too irritable, he never got the job... and well most people would even tell him how come you are still here... and i feel sorry for him now because i know he wanted to go but there is just no other company who accepts his application.

Yes you are right. its always the calm and loyal workers who get noticed and are able to get work easily.Like employees who look for good employers good employers are also looking for loyal workers in whom they can trust and delegate powerful works

This is one smart guy who really know how to handle himself/thing right. I just admire him even though I do not know much about him. This is the way to go doing your thing. I guess that is why he is also very successful in his work.

When I was on the job, I never complained and I never aired my negative views on the policies that I knew were detrimental for the employees. I never criticized the management openly so everybody thought I was very loyal and happy with the job. However, I was already thinking of how I will be able to get out of the job without everyone knowing about it. When I tendered my resignation nobody knew about it except my superior and my co-employees only knew when there was only a few days left from the notice. Everybody was surprised since I was least expected to resign from the job. Nobody knew that I have received a very good offer from one of the managers who had his own company. Our negotiation was kept secret from everybody because we did not want it to become a reason for the management to hold my benefits and separation pay. Some employees would brag and talk excitedly of resigning but until now they are still connected with the company. i just found it better to keep everything to myself and just file a resignation without any fuss.

I think he was smart not to say anything. In America, even though it's the land of opportunity there are companies who will fire you if you go around talking about another job prospect, especially if it's a competitor. In this way, if he was to get fired he'd already have the other job and no need. It also saves embarrassment if he were to have not gotten it and talked about it anyway.
