my friend ask me a favor to look for tagalog songs that would be great in wedding. As I was searching the internet I only found a few , some where generally for one sided love or brokenhearted song. Can you suggest any tagalog songs for weddings? What were the songs sang in your wedding or if ever you get married what song do you wanna play on that special day?

yes its a song by Joey Albert, it was dedicated to her boyfriend ( i forgot the name) they were separated. but even the guy got married she still admits her as love of a lifetime. anyway, can i change my song... how about Hindi Kita Malilimutan, it top the charts way back 90's.

Gaano kita kamahal, I think fits better for a wedding, since its about taking a bow or swearing a promise. Its an old song but it has some modern revivals from very recent singers just in case you dont like old songs. well that song is classic and its full of hope.
wether its english or Tagalog, dont use heartbreak and break up songs in weddings.

the Moonstar 88 version of Panalangin really fits for a wedding. Minsan lang kita iibigin have some tragic elements on the lyrics.

Tagalog songs are a good choice for a wedding. Quite unusual since most songs used are in English. Well, Here are some I can think of although some are old songs, just choose the versions you want since most of them are revived these days.... (The ever popular) Ikaw by Sharon Cuneta or Regine Velasquez, Minsan lang Kita IIbigin by Ariel Rivera or Juris or I think Gary V has this version too, Ngayon at kailanman by Sharon Cuneta or was it Basil Valdez, Ikaw ang lahat sa akin by martin nievera, Panunumpa by carol banawa (though I think this was made for those who took their vow to serve God) and Habang may Buhay, forgot who sang the song.

Some of the song you mentioned were on my list too. And I also think panunumpa is more for God than for the couple but if you listen to it, it can still fit the undying devotion to each other. I am also searching for songs that are not usually played at weddings. But thanks .Ill just have to add more songs to the list and its up to her to choose. I do not know what she will do with the songs. I think its for her other friend. I asked if she is to sing a song for them but refused to tell me. hehe ! Maybe she will. hmm.. anyways thanks!

I was about to suggest "panunumpa" but someone beat me to it. I think "Pangako" is okay. Does it really have to be in Tagalog or just a Tagalog singer?

Well I have to add these songs: "Ngayon at Kailanman", "Naaalala ka". I know those are rather ancient but it has a nice message.
OPM songs: "You" by Basil Baldez, Let the Love Begin, "Love of my Life" by South Border, and "Moments of Love".

I have not talk to her yet. I also was meaning to ask her if it has to be tagalog or any wedding opm. But if you do know english wedding songs of Filipino composers please do add them. It would be great to have a wide choice of songs.

the songs in the wedding are those that have been part of the story of the relationship. and it is best for your friend to select the songs so that the couple will remember those times when they were still getting to know each other or the early part of their love story. but if your friend seeks help and you have seen the couple grow in their relationship, then you can select songs based on your experience with the couple. goodluck.

oh ok thanks. I think I missed out the part saying she is not the bride. :D Indeed songs that would describe their relationship will make it more meaningful.

i am not a fan of willie revillame but i enjoy watching his show every night because i feel relaxed after a day's stressful work. i enjoy hearing stories of our countrymen, especially those people below the poverty that joins the game "kantanong" and plays for their luck. there is one song that i really love to hear willie sings every night, "ikaw na nga" to which, basil valdez also included in his latest album. i hear this song sung by other people who visited or joined the contest and the latest, someone who has a very similar voice with gary valenciano. "ikaw na nga" is a good song if sung by a good singer with a voice caliber of basil or gary, it will come out great, much better than the original singer. vhenee saturno i guess is the one who wrote the said song. the lyrics goes like this:
Ikaw na nga
Ang hinahanap ng puso
Ang siyang magbibigay ng saya ng tamis
At lambing sa buhay ko
kaw na nga
Ang bawat panaginip ko
Sa piling mo'y nagkatotoo,
Ang lahat ng mga pangarap ko
Ikaw na nga ito

Yes I also find the lyrics to be moving, I am not a fan of willie too. I think it will sound great if it will be sang by a good singer. Thanks!

I love Ogie Alcasids songs...all of them are good love songs, I think. Most of them are one sided love songs or saying goodbye though. You could try Martin Nievera's too. "Ikaw Lamang" and "Kailangan Kita" are very good choices for me.
Ikaw lamang ang tangi kong minamahal
Ang tangi kong dinarasal
Sana'y habang buhay tayong magkasama
Ang puso ko'y ibibigay lamang sa 'yo
Ito ang akong pangako

Hmmm listening to the song while typing this. I think it would be too much of undying love closer to mourning :D. Anyways I think it would be nice if the wedding is for 50th anniversary or something. Thanks for the suggestion.

- kahit na ulitin pa man (papuri 16)
- dambana ng puso
- sana naman
