'Browsing' at the library?

Do you ever 'browse' at the library? Is that the main way you find books? I tried doing that after work this afternoon, as I got out early, and I am across the street from a library. I picked out 2 random books and so far one of them isn't so good (in my opinion). Now I am disappointed that I browsed instead of researched it like I normally would. Plus, it's so overwhelming! Where to begin! What authors are good?! Which books are books worth reading?! Which are topics that you are interested in?! Needless to say I spent about 20 minutes at the library just reading the backs of books and trying to figure out if it sounded like something I wanted to read. I think next time I need to be more prepared and find books that I am actually interested in reading.... I can't just go to the library impromptu, I guess! How about you? Are you a BROWSER or a planner?

I am a browser because every time I went to the library that’s when I start browsing what I want to read and what interests me the most. I love reading books because that is my hobby. It kills time also when I don’t do anything and it helps widen my knowledge and vocabulary.

When I go to the library to find books (not just to do some sort of research) I usually have a book or two in mind that I intend to find, and I always look forward to browsing. I love this. I will browse the new book section, and usually pick at least two books from this section. I will also browse the non-fiction section, especially biographies and history. I rarely browse the fiction section. Usually, when I seek fiction, I already know what I want.

i live ina fairly large city so there are lots of branches in our library system so i usually go on\line and order my book that way and have them sent to the closest branch but sometimes if i go there and have some time, i will browse.

Not as much as I have in previous years. But I do try and go right to the library once and while to browse a little bit. When the time mandates. I do wish that time would mandate a little bit more. And the travel can be a bit out of the way, so there is that to say the very least. It really is a shame that libraries are just going extinct rather slowly and painfully, but that is just the nature of the progression of society. Still when I can, I do enjoy just taking a look at the books that are out there, when I am given the chance. There are just many times where my love for reading does get the better of me. Of course, most of my books I buy new, when I really do have that chance to buy the books. But still there are times where I do indulge myself right when I can. Of course I can't stay long but I just feel the need to have a good look around to see what's on the shelves.

I do both. If I know what book exactly I want to read, they of course I got and try to find that. But I browse a lot. I usually know what I want to read about and go to that part of the library. I often use their computer catalog if I have some idea about what I am looking for.

I love reading books, but I never visit library.Instead I go to the book stores in my hometown and browse books there. The owners of these book shops are my acquaintances and they allow me to remain in the shop as long as I wish.If I want to buy any book and it is not available with them, they arrange for buying it from cities far away from my town.

I browse most of the time, but now and then there will be a specific book or author that I want to read, so I look it up. I spend quite a bit of time at the library when I go there. It isn't a "get it and go" trip, even if I go for one specific book. I enjoy looking around and skimming through books that might interest me and usually find more than I intended that way.

Since I hope my son will have a good habit of reading. So I often bring him to the library. When he enters to the children's library, then I will go to the adult's library. Usually we have an agreement and I will see him an hour later in the gate of the Children's library. So when I am in my library, I just browse the books there and actually I don't have a plan to borrow which kind of books there. I love China

I do like to browse at the library see if I can find something that interests me. Sometimes I can spend my time there just looking for books and trying to read some that caught my attention. It not only happens to a library but also in a bookstore. When I browse for books, I can spend my time there especially if I am waiting for someone and never think of how long I have been there already.

I am normally a browser myself. I love to just look at the books and read the backs of the covers to see if I am interested. Of course, I always hit my favorite authors and know exactly where they are at my local library. If there is something I am interested in I will use the computer to search for it.

Is your library using Pines system? If it does then you should be able to browse book from home. Me and my husband like to browse library book or movie a nite before we go to library for we can put it on the hold so by the time we get to the library we just need to pick it up. This way we save our time from staying there or we just stay there when we need to read certain book that ca not be rented. Hope this work with your library too. Worth to try ^_*

I normally do when something interests me but usually I just go to the shelves with the categories I'm interested in and figure out what I should check out on spot.

I am the type of person that likes to just go and get what I want. I already know what I am getting before I go in. But I sometimes do some research into potential books I want to read. Or advice from friends. Browsing may pay off and you could find a great book but it is also a lot of time wasting too.

I often do both. My local library has a website and I often use that website when I want to find books about a certain topic or books written by a certain author. The website tells me if the libraty owns the book I am looking for, if it available or how long I have to wait for the book. Before I visit the library I write down and the titles and the names of the authors that I am looking for and that makes it very easy to find the books that I am interested in when I visit the library. While I am there I also browse. If I find a book where the title sounds interesting I read the desription on the back of the book and decide if I want to borrow the book or not.

I'm a browser, but I'm either easier to please or more in tune with whether or not I'll like a book just by reading the jacket because I'm rarely disappointed in what I find. I am sometimes, but it doesn't stop me from browsing. Now that I think about it, I'm just not particularly fond of planning ahead. I don't even take book recommendations well! I tend to shy away from things people tell me are good and find out what I like for myself.

Definitely a browser. As I look and find a book that looks interesting, i keep in mind if there is more books by that author that I could look at later. I have an eclectic taste in books, so most of the time I will enjoy a book even if it does not have high literary qualities.

Well, I find out about which books are good by suggestions from friends, the internet, and just plain everywhere. I keep those books in mind and search them up at the library, and that's how I find where the books are and I can quickly check them out that way.

I do browse books, but never at the library. I go to places like Amazon or Barnes & Noble to browse around. Sometimes, I may ask my friends on books they recommend and just browse the stores looking for the genre that book is in. I may start going back to the library though, since they have rebuilt it after it being so old for, I don't know, a bazillion years lol. That's basically it though. Plus I feel that online there are more options since the library could possibly have interesting books checked out by someone else already :P
