This morning, I made a withdrawal in one of the bank here in the area. The bank atm machine was different with my bank. I tried 20,000 pesos but told me amount was not allowed. So I tried 10,000 and then told me that I had insufficient funds. I was sure that I had more than 20,000 in my account. So I run to my bank's atm machine and successfully withdrawn the 10,000. I was surprise when I found that I had only a few hundreds left in my account! I only successfully withdrawn 10,000 that day.
I immediately reported it to my bank and to the bank where I first tried to make withdrawal.
Told me that they will make an investigation and try to get back my other ten thouand pesos. The sad thing was, because it was an inter-bank transaction, it would take more than 15 banking days to get result. I just have to wait more than a month then.

Have been experienced the same scenario - which there are no bills have been dispensed from ATM but have debited on my card. After the incident I have reported it to their customer support and advised me to wait for a couple of days. And true enough after three days viola my 10k has been credited again in my account.

yes, that is correct - as we are aware that most ATM machines here in PH have limit of 10k bills in one withdrawal. Hope your bank could investigate and facilitate the credit soon. :D

Jesus.. why withdraw at the wrong atm? I always make it a habit to withdraw only at the bank that issued my atm as I understand things can go haywire if I withdraw at a different atm machine. First to do must be to know the withdrawal limit of the other bank.

Yes, sadly, that was my mistake. I was in a hurry at that time, that I did not bother to check the withdrawal limit of that bank. I was also stupid enough to read the notification in the ATM as I was trying to withdraw the amount. Good thing I kept the receipts cause if not, I was not sure what really happened.

The problem in my case was when I withdraw cash in the other ATM, my local bank debited the 10,000 automatically, even though the transaction failed to complete. I did not get the cash, but my bank debited it to my account. One member have commented here saying that it had happened to him/her also. The same amount: 10,000 pesos.

I thought you are rob by the title of the discussion. Thanks God that it is not as bad as I thought. Though it will take time, the important thing is you will get it back. Things like that really happens and it was sad that you experience it. Just be patient in waiting and put on hold what you are about to do with the money. Be careful though, there are lots of robbers nowadays because earning money is very hard in our country.

I had that same experience with BDO ATMs twice! I was able to recover my money although it took several phone calls for those 2 instances. What I don't like is the fact that I have to wait for more than 5 business days when my account was with them and it was their machines that made those mistakes.

Yes! My bank was BDO, and the other bank was RCBC. I think what happened to me was exactly the opposite of what happened to you. Because in my case, the RCBC atm did the mistake, and BDO was stupid enough to approved the transaction even though RCBC did not successfully dispensed my money.

i did keep the receipts. The funny thing was, when I went to my bank, I threw the receipt from the first bank! When I fount out that about the mising 10,000, i immediately went back to the trashbin too look for it. Good thing that because it was early in the morning, the trash bin was a bit empty. After a few seconds, i found the receipt!

Hi bhonti,
I can understand if you're feeling bothered and stressed up over this incident. To wait up to 15 days for the bank's investigation and answer is quite long but I'm afraid there's nothing much you can do except wait. I'm sure you'll get back your money. Lesson learnt: next time don't withdraw from a ATM of a different bank. I also try not to withdraw from a different bank's ATM.

That is machine error since you entered 20thou. I am sure, but as far as I know, ATM machine only releases 10thousand pesos per transaction and we can withdraw up to 40thousand maximum for the day (using ATM) so, if you want to withdraw a bigger amount, better do it over the counter( above 40thousand)
In your case,it seems that the transaction was successfully done, but the money did not come out.If that is the case, the bank will return your money, if proven that the money was not released. This happens to one of my friend and she had her money back, yes, it takes 15 days process.Be careful next time and hope that your money will be back soon.

I'm sorry to hear that this has happened to you. I hope that they are able to figure out soon what is going on with your account. I too would want to find out as soon as I could what was happening. It's sad that these things take place. I also hope you are able to get your money back soon. I can imagine how frustrated you are by the whole situation.

It is very unfortunate, and so uncomfortable for you to have lost such a good amount of money (if you haven't got it yet). I hope and pray that the investigation by the bank would result in you getting back the amount. A lesson we can get from this incident is for us to use our bank account's atm since when something happens, the facilitation of any investigation and request would be better and faster.

Hope you get it sooner. A friend had the same experience also although his I think took only 3 business days to get credited back to his account. Although he was also very nervous because the incident happened just before a long holiday weekend. That is why his bank advised him to avoid as much as possible to withdraw from other bank's ATM as the process take longer.

I've had the same experience as yours and usually back then, it was when I was making a withdrawal through my own bank's ATM. The most frustrating experience I had with ATM not dispensing money was when I only had enough left until the next payday. Imagine that I had to borrow money not because I had no money, but because the ATM did not dispense my money even though the machine registered it as a withdrawal. As long as you have the receipt for the withdrawal the bank will return the funds. But it will take two weeks because they have to trace back the transaction and check also with the bank where you made the withdrawal.
Now I only make withdrawals at ATMs that are from those banks with extensive networks and I make sure that it is a machine where a lot of people make a withdrawal. My reason for this is because the bank knows that a lot of people use that machine, they always maintain it so there are smaller chances of the machine not dispensing money.

Oh wow what an ordeal! I am hoping that they will be able to resolve it sooner and get you back your money. I remember when an ATM I used once didn't have sufficient money in it and so I didn't get the money I needed. I was upset about it and was worried that I wouldn't get my money back but the gas station I was at told me to just call the number on the transaction receipt and alert them of it. It only took about three days to get my money back in my account.
From now on I'd much rather use my own bank's ATM or that of a store during a shopping order. Here in the USA we can go to a store and buy an item and the machine will ask if we want cashback when we pay. I like to use this feature at my own store because I can ask for as little as I want, up to $200.00

Those bank's ATM are not 100% reliable piece of cash withdrawal machine. I had once withdrawn several hundred dollars from my account but the actual amount i got is one hundred dollar short from the stated receipt. After trying frantically explained to my bank, they still don't believe it is a mistake but insist that the transaction is correct. AT the end of the day, i had to suck up for the ATM error no matter how bad it look on the bank. According to my personal experience dealing with my bank, whenever such an ATM error (on purpose or intentional)happen, the customer usually need to suck it up for the discrepancy, the ATM never make mistake. After that incident, i had great reservation about these 'extremely efficient' ATM transaction, especially those inter-bank agreement they have with each other for using each other ATM by their account holders, at the end of the day, the withdrawal dude usually is the one left to hold on to the hot potatoes for any secret deal between them or left at the mercy of the bank managers, there is no such thing 'account holder is always right' apply here. Hope you have a better luck this time dealing with your banker, just don't be too surprise if they suspect you are trying to milk them out of your own money.

This is really bad thing to happen specially when you don't have any other money left. My sister has experienced this one. If I can remember right, It was also 10,000 pesos. But I don't think she waited a month for that. Or maybe she has. Really can't remember. The lesson there is, you have to withdraw at least half of it, then half again. For you not to remain zero balance...

That is a sad thing that could happen to me, good if it will be back but if not I will be really really mad because of this, well the lesson there is it is still better if we withdraw money from our banks atm machine that is much safer because I have experience that I withdraw money from my banks atm but the balance is not correct so I reported it immediately so they return my money back to the atm before 24hrs had elapse. besides withdrawing money with another bank's atm will deduct around 10pesos right? but for conveniece sometimes we need to go to another machine but if you do that might as well check the balance first to have proof that you have that amount and it was deducted even without dispensing money.
