I personally didn't have the opportunity to watch the video as it was removed by the user. However, a blog site that I frequently go to summarizes and bulleted he content. As the way as I see it, Some people can say that the list was insensitive and culturally biased but maybe because it was made by a foreigner, not a local. We don't know how to perceive things in their view because we grew up here and we learn our little traits that makes us unique from other culture.
However, the perspective of a foreigner may help see what we are missing or what we are doing wrong. If we don't like what was said we could always just ignore it. or see the logic behind it. Make the most out of it rather than condemning it in an instant.

I, personally haven't watched the video yet.
They say that truth hurts. I think I will not be offended on what are included in the videos. It only shows the real situation here in the Philippines.
Does this means that a foreign person will see this before everyone will react to it?

Yes, that is he irony of this issue, they have to let other citizen to post the real stuation in the Philippines before they will react. If a Filipino will do this video, they will just ignore and won't put it on news...

It's just so sad to think that if a Filipino hosted that video instead of a foreigner, it wouldn't matter so much and it won't be news. It only means that we don't value the opinion of our fellow Filipino and that we are so much concerned to be liked by other race.

Hello Chloe, Too bad, the opportunity to make a country better is to see what a foreigner thinks should be removed. And i bet it never our hospitality nor our culture, the good ones i think. i realized now that every criticism is a room for improvement, we are in globalization, and i think being sensitive now a days makes it even more hard for us to improve ourselves. but don't get me wrong, am sensitive myself, the least thing now is am no longer that hurt when ever there are criticisms like these. i don't when are we gonna get together and do somehting about our country's problems step by step, some are doing a great effort but sadly it's not that media exposed.

I have not seen the video myself but based on the tidbits of information I was able to get from the radio, I think the reactions of the public officials in Cebu like threatening to deport that poor guy and declaring him persona no grata is a bit too much. I would agree if he was telling a lie but as sad as it may sound, garbage, traffic, among other things mentioned are common sights anywhere in the Philippines. If those public officials were shamed on how that student portrayed those things in his blog, they should be more ashamed for not doing anything to solve those problems.

I agree, instead of turning a blind eye and make a big issue out of it why don't they do something to solve the problems he mentioned?

Yes instead of making this a big issue that ruined the country's image, why not make this as an eye-opener or a contructive criticism that there are problems like what mentioned in the video that needs more attention rather than spending time on non-sense issues.

I was not able to see the video yet... And I will not watch it and give that person another view in youtube if it is still posted. Maybe this person is really had a bad or negative experience in the Philippines. However, I think this should be a wake up call for all of us.

I totally agree with you that this video would make wake-up calls on us especially those who are in the position to make necessary changes.

To be honest, I haven't seen the video. But as the title implies, he is stating an opinion. Might be offensive but he does not speak for the many who thinks otherwise. We should take this to better our country. I am a Filipino, there are a few things I don't like about the country, let's be honest.

Like any other country, My country is not perfect. There are so many reasons why to LOVE Philippines...
1. we are happy people, we do not frown - we in fact smile even to strangers.
2. we help people out of the goodness of our hearts - even foreigners that is why we are said to be hospitable!
3. we are very hard working people - even the dirty jobs we do, that is why we have OFW's who work their as*es of for other people.
4. We are family oriented. we value family.
5. There are great places here.. boracay, bohol, palawan, davao, cebu, and many more.
6. we have great cuisines!
and i could talk on and on and on..
maybe that guy had a bad experience here.

I'm not Filipino so hopefully I can come from a neutral perspective. I wouldn't waste time watching that youtube video because it sounds very negative.

I think it is not what he meant to convey - it just you go in a particular place and able to talked about it with your relatives or friends. How you are amaze or how you hate that place?
In his case it somewhat like same telling people (on a video) that his experienced and what he can say about the Philippines. By the way I am a Filipino but I don't find it offensive instead an eye opener for us to strive more how we could change the view of other on our country and improve our system on each industry.

If you look on the web there is a ton of videos saying why they hate Australia, America. Not everyone going to like every country. I just wish they would keep it to them selves. Not sure why they think it is necessary to make a video about it..
