We all know that the main product of sugar cane is the sugar. But other than sugar it could be made into Basi , a delicious local wine. Then the juice once extracted could be mixed with any tropical fruit and it would make a delicious tropical juice. Then, it was shown that it could be made into Cascaran – glutinous rice shaped into little patties, dipped in caramelized sugar cane juice. Then , it was show on how a peeled buco (young coconut) would be holed and dipped in a hot caramelized sugar cane. And when you open the buco after dipping it , you open it and scoop out a delicious buco meat in its caramelized sugar cane. Indeed, the sugar cane could be made into other food products too. How I wish we have those food products too here in our province.

I am sure somebody that is business minded and moneyed from that place will really think of introducing it to those big supermarkets.

I from the Northern part of Luzon, where "Cascaran/cascaron" is a common delicacy. Some root crops "kamoteng kahoy" are sliced thin and dried in the sun for a moment then fried with sugarcane extract (not the processed sugar) There are other sweet foods cooked with sugarcane extracts but I forgot names (hehehe- sorry)

Really, you have that in your province? Oh lucky you my friend. So, does it taste as good as the kakanin (glutinous rice, topped with kalamay)?

Seems to me that this was feature on a television show :D. Yes a sugarcane was a source of different products that are available in the market. But not as much marketed like other products - if we only have the willingness to buy our own product that would help Phil economy to boost. I remember there was a kiosk here in our province for fresh sugarcane juice but not as much popular as buko juice. Was it the kiosk presentation or the location?

Yes, my friend, it's actually a feature in Jessica Soho's show. Sugar cane by itself, is very good to munch on. The sweet juice is very delicious as you chew it.
