What Is It With Me And Handbags?

Hi everyone, I'm always very careful about minding my things but I'm beginning to think that I should ditch the handbag or start wearing it the way that it hangs across my chest rather than on my shoulder. It's the second time in the last few months that I have mislaid it. Earlier today a friend gave my son and I a lift home from school. She dropped us off at a small roundabout in the housing estate so she could exit easily through another way out that was convenient to her. I had my handbag, my son's schoolbag and two bags of shopping with me in the front. She dropped us off, I gathered all my belongings, got out of the car and went round the other side at the rear to help my son out. Waved goodbye and set off home, about a 5 minute walk. Was a couple of minutes down the road when a neighbour pulled up asking me did I know if anyone had dropped a handbag up at the roundabout....I didn't even need time to register I just knew it was mine but checked my shoulder and sure enough, no handbag. She whizzed round and went back up to see if it was still there, got out and got it showing me the bag (gave her the thumbs up) and I was just so thankful!!! I hadn't missed the bag with all the other bags I had and probably wouldn't have missed it till I got in the door (my keys and mobile phone were in my coat pocket). I was just glad that it was her, an honest person who came by it and that it was so soon after I'd dropped it. My purse was in it and whatever money I had, plus my cards and although it would be a pain at least they can be replaced. The last time I left my handbag in the changing room in a supermarket and thankfully it was an honest member of staff who happened on it. Not everybody is as honest though and I consider myself really lucky. Maybe even the work of my Guardian Angel :) Please feel free to share your handbag stories..... IrishGal77 :)

Thank goodness you managed to get your bag(s) back. Phew! I've been lucky in this instance whereas Mum has left her purse in various establishments over the years. One time she left it on a bus and two very nice young lads brought it round for her.

Hi Janey, Thanks for responding. Oh I know, I count my lucky stars that my neighbour came across it when she did. IrishGal77 :)

Gee you were lucky, for these days to find an honest person is a miracle, I nearly always wear an over the shoulder type bag, it leaves the hands free and you don't lose your bag, especially going to the supermarket it makes it so much better...

Hi lilaclady, Thanks for responding. I know, I said it to my son that I felt so lucky to have had my bag returned to me like that. A few minutes later and it could have been a totally different story. I had about €140 in my purse cos I had been to the cash machine earlier. I don't normally carry around that much money with me unless I intend on spending it all while I'm out and about. It certainly gave me a fright and serves as a wake-up call. I either start wearing the bag and other bags around my body or ditch them altogether. It happens all too easily for me and I would consider myself a very careful person. It's happening much too much for my liking and third time round I may not be so lucky.... IrishGal77 :)
