Dear friend,
I would like to know on what reason it is holiday, for us it is not a holiday here in India. At times some holidays are really worthy for me as it helpds lots of other personal things to be completed or done. We all need rest and relaxation and I feel holidays are more suitable for that.

hello Shamrack, today is a religious day for the Hindu people in Indonesia. they celebrated the Hindu New year. how is India? the majority people of India are Hindus, do they celebrated the Hindu new year too today? In this day the Hindu people stayed inside their house they are not allowed to do any activity, go outside their houses not making noise, not allowed to turn on the lighting. they called it as Nyepi day (or perhaps we can translate in English as a Quiet day), they started the celebration from 6am today until 6am tomorrow morning.

Well in Greece we have 3-4 Holliday's yearly except the Christmas and Easter. The National holidays are on the 28th of October is the anniversary of "No" (In memory of Greek WWII victims) and on the 25th of March is in the memory of the start of the revolution against Turkey back in the 1821 which ended with the liberation of Greece and finally on 17th of November is in the memory of Polytechnio victims against Chounta. Despite that there are other holidays like on the 15th of March is the holiday of Saint Achilles who is the "protector" saint of my hometown, Larissa but it's only local for my hometown and not national. Also schools don't work on the Three Hierarchs memorial.

Indonesia decided to recognize holidays of all different faiths that exist there. Now I think even Chinese New Year is considered public holiday there. Today is Hindu's holiday, and there is Waisak holiday for Budhist also. It's an easily acceptable government's decision since it means more time off. A nice change at a place where anything its government does is usually met with people's displeasure.

I did't notice it was a holiday. If there's a national holiday on Thursday, many flights are fully booked. The flight to Kendari from Jakarta was also full. So, I decided to stay at home. Going any where really costs a lot of money now.

That's good for you, timely for rest. When it comes to public holiday, that's the best time to be resting at home. 3 days ago was a friday in singapore, and there's no holiday until 6th april, Good friday. Philippines is a big country and needed time to travel, thus with this long holiday, it's the best time to reunite with family members. Take a good rest for the long holidays and you will feel fresher for your online activities.

Yesterday was declared a special non-working holiday in our province of Cavite, Philippines where I'm settled.
It's Emilio Aguinaldo day, he was our first official president who was born and raised in Cavite.
My husband had an overtime yesterday because of some deadlines to do in the office.
It's just a normal day to me *wink! Just at home taming the kids *LOL

I am Italian. Which is why, in addition to Religious holidays, in my country we also have these vacation day:
January 1: New Year
April 25: Feast of Liberation
May 1: Labor Day
June 2: Feast of the Italian Republic
June 24: S.G. Battista, the patron saint of my city (Genova)
August 15: Ferragosto day called
All others, such as Religious: Christmas, S. Stephen, etc., do not list because in most countries, already know when they arrive.

Is it only in Bali that Hari Raya Nyepi declared a public holiday? It is always wonderful to have public holidays - I don't mind to have as many as the law provides. I think that My country, Malaysia, is one of the countries that has the most public holidays in the world. Sometimes if there is a success in any sports, the government here would also declare a special holiday.
