hi friends.i love my dog.no question there but making her take a bath, well thats another matter. the minute she catch me getting water for her bath, she sits on her haunches and wont get up. before i can get her wet,she makes me wet. even with 2 person holding her,its almost impossible to go near her head. to sum it up,its pretty much a battle where both parties kinda loses.lol. how successful are you?

It seems your dog is quite spoiled, isn't she? I never gave a bath to any dog but my partner does this with her dog frequently. She taught her dog to enjoy the bath time since her first days with us. I remember some of her rules: the water should not be too hot, the shampoo used for the head and face must be baby shampoo ("no tears"), the surface of the bath tube must not be slippery (you can put a towel at the bottom of the bath tube so the dog will feel safe). Lots of treats and praise - this is the key to have a successful bath. Recently, my partner gave a bath to a stray from the neighborhood. The stray was like paralyzed - she didn't move at all during the bath time. I can't say she enjoyed the bath but she didn't make any problems either. I think your dog make all that mess because she is spoiled. Have you thought about taking her to a canine hairdresser to be given a bath?

my dog - this dog is hiding under a car when bathing time
Hello stardust, I also have a hard time bathing my dog. When my dog sees that I am preparing the water and her soap, she starts to hide under the car. This gives me a hard time to pull her to bath. She even have the attitude to pretend she does not hear her name being called. Really a challenge to bath adult dogs!

No that successful like yours, I am having a hard time bathing my boy dog too. He growls at me when I'm picking him or he will go under the bench or table where it's impossible to reach him, he almost bite me. Yesterday, I didn't fail to catch him, I just made a strategy, while I was hand washing my clothes, he went there just walking, I grabbed him and he growls at me, I just make it sure that he won't be able to bite me then I put water from his body, that's where it started. I guess we just need to have a strategy, do not rush and be brave enough to hold the dog while (s)he's growling at you.

Yes its very difficult to give dog a birth because dogs do not like like to take bath and also they are very restless in nature.

I had a dog in the past and there was no problem for us to give him a bath as he seemed to enjoy it a lot. Perhaps he thought he would be cleaner and then had a better smell. But my cats would never like having a bath. I love China

Sounds like your dog needs some training XD I've taught our dog to jump into the tub on his own, and he knows not to jump out until he's given the okay. Makes bath time SO much easier! My other dog is older so she can't jump in I have to put her in myself, but she too knows not to get out until I tell she can. Sometimes she needs help getting out too.
