For me...it is about protecting myself. I understand metaphysics in a way that I believe strongly in faith, courage and the power of prayer.
I ask, each and every day, that I and my children will be protected. Even if I cross the street, I think to myself, THANK YOU FOR PROTECTING ME ALWAYS. I might be talking to God or maybe I'm talking to my own spirit. The important thing is that I KNOW I'm protected and whenever I express gratitude for that fact I attract more of the same.
It's about working with the power of my mind and energy. It seems to be a better alternative than to live in fear that something bad might happen.

In the torah , there were people that predicted the future in a special way : they told all about the bad things to come if and if and if... so , when the bad things didn't happen , the prophecy was considered to be true because , the people did all of what they needed to avoid the punishment from GOD. That kind of prophecy was a true prophecy.
For example : one could tell the people that GOD will punish them all , making them suffer and etc ... if they keep following and worship statues for example... So , if the people stoped worshiping the statues , the punishment didn't come so the prophecy was true.
If you get ready to the bad things to come , you do all it takes to prevent them , they won't happen , or if they happen , you will handle them elegantly.
Thoughts have power and many books like "the secret" tells it , so I also believe in what you say.

True!! I love that affirmation. That's exactly how one should pray. The power of affirmation :)x

It's not about protecting yourself but knowing yourself. I know I am a strong person, I survived more as most people even can imagine. I try to go with the flow and I know that if something is (unexpectly) happening there is seldom a need to act at once. So I give it some time (many problems are solved by itself), I am optimistic, I tell myself I survived it all before so I will survive it again. Also I know that as soon as I deal with it I am very strong, creative and full of energy and so alive. So it's the positive view/way of thinking that makes the difference and the fact I don't see it as a bad thing at all!

Hello there , WakeUpKitty , I always like reading your responds , I haven't seen you lately and I hope you will be more active.
About this discussion , many unexpected things are likely to happen to us everyday : when we drive the car , someone can suddenly stop the vehicle and make us crush his car. We have to keep a distanse of at least 2 seconds behind him. If it doen't help , we also can drive our car to the side of the road but we can probabely not do more than that.
When we walk in the street , some gangs can just start a fight with us and we can maybe run away , or pretend we don't see them or aware of them . we can also try to fight back but we can die.
We have to be aware of everything that might go wrong and take some security about it : I personally had to go to work and my car didn't have a starter so I had enaugh time to take the bus because I always go a lot of time sooner to avoid being late.
If I play with my dog that can be aggressive to people or other dogs , I make sure no one is around and only then I set him free. Sometimes he starts chasing cats or other dogs but I run immediately after him and shouts at him to stop , but it rarely happens because I stand on the guard , making sure he will have to run through me.
To act by our instincts is not always the best thing to do. We have to plan in advance what to do to avoid or handle surprises. In my age , 30 , I still have things to learn about it. Have a nice mylotting , your discussion is really interesting me. Thanks for starting it.

If only i can cause bad things happen, i will try my best to control myself. But in most cases, I am hurt by other one. As I think I do not have the right to control other people, so i can not avoid it. But if the one who try to hurt you is not a important person to you, you can recover the hurt soon. Calm down and think out the method to solve the problem, and may be you can have the chance to fight back. But if the one is you loved one, the pain can not go away easily.

well, bad things really happen. but we can prevent them from happening if we prepare for the worst. if it happens, then we can shield ourselves from its consequences. this is where religion can play a role. if one let's God to handle things, no bad things is believed to happen. if it happens, then the best protection that one will have is God.

My daily struggle is to anticipate what will happen to me the rest of the day. Everyday I know that something I do not know will happen. My way to cope up even in advance is prayer. I always pray that God will take control of me in every situation I will face. I cannot control the presence of bad things since I cannot control other's behavior. I have to ask for greater grace to abound inside me to avoid being attacked emotionally when something bad happens. In this sense, I ask the Lord to help me not be controlled of any circumstance.

There's nothing you can do to protect yourself from bad things. I believe that God is the only one who can protect us, if you put your trust to Him He will guide you and protect you but if you live in fear without trusting Him then your fears will eat you out.

It's sometimes difficult to protect yourself from bad things, or even to avoid them completely. I think that it's about trying to overcome them the best way you can. I think that this can be a good way to look at it. Try to know your strengths and use them to your advantage.
