Why do people let the job get to them

I work with a lot of people and me and my co-worker direct them around so that they process smoothly. There are a lot of chiefs who like to tell us different things to do. I usually have no problem following what works. If things don't work out I usually come up with something or ask my boss what they think. When people are processed it is not just a few but 30 to 40 people groups, so it can get crazy at times and people need different thing so they are staged at different places. My co-worker gets out of control trying to direct traffic. I advise them to just relax and just direct them accordingly. So it seems too many people tell them different things then they get upset when it doesn't work or they try too hard to figure things out. This job is a no-brain in just telling others where to go. My co-worker lets those small things get under the skin then the face gets red and they say things that is crazy or not nice. I believe in relaxing and not letting the job get to me. Is there something you do to not let the job get to you?

Its probably frustration of being in a job that they don't really want to be working at, life is short so one should be happy in ones job, it is sad that anyone has to spend so much of their life in a job they do not like.

You know sometime the job you are in is the only job you can find. The economy is getting so crazy that it is hard to find a job you enjoy unless you start your own business. I agree with you as well I am desperately looking for something I enjoy and make a descent living. Thanks for you input!!

I will be honest I have the same problem. Except I get more upset at the lack of initiative people have. People will just walk by a problem, and the know its a problem. It only takes 5 seconds to fix the simple problem. I can see a new person not knowing its a problem but when you have been working there for 5 to 20 years you should know its a problem and fix it. It drives me crazy. That is why I am trying to work for myself, because I am going to fly off the handle one day.

You know that is a good point. It is sad people just don't care anymore, but when they don't have a job or in danger of losing their job that is when they will wake up and realize they need to straighten up or do things differently. I am ex military and counseling seems to be the best method. Don't fly yet, keep on going forward you will have your own business!

We're still just humans and no matter how much you wanna feel nothing during work, you will still get affected. You can't switch emotions on and off, it'll always be there no matter where you go. I work in a call center and I can't avoid irate customers. In fact, there has always been someone busting their @ss off trying to get their point across, and wanting me to listen to them at work during calls and sometimes I just wanna throw the computer to the ground to let my frustration off. Although we all know that I can't do that, I'll be fined for the damages. I think all we need is control. If we learn how to control our emotions, we'll be fine for the rest of the day.

While I'm all for taking your job seriously, there are some people who take their work a bit too seriously. Especially considering when you really think about it, the work of most people is just a means to an end and that end is getting a paycheck. A paycheck that you are likely going to get regardless of what is going to happen, regardless of what people do. You are just a cog right in the machine, really a piece of the puzzle.
Some people tend to complain about every little thing about work. It is rather frustrating. If you hate your job that much, then you might want to look into finding another one. Either said than done, but it is just a suggestion that really should be out there. OF course, there are some people who just live to complain and they are just going to let things get to them. Including their jobs. It is rather frustrating but it just happens.

I guess those people are just tired of their routine jobs and no longer happy about it. Some people really enjoy what they do and don't treat work as work. I encounter hardheaded co-workers everyday, giving me orders, telling me to do this and that, it's really annoying but I know I really shouldn't let them get to me. I need my job so badly and I will do everything I can to keep it.
