I would make sure you balance your exercise and do stick with some womanly sized weights. I don't think huge arm muscles in women is very attractive anymore. But it depends on what you are comfortable with. I don't down woman body builders if that's what they want to do. Every one has their opinion. I do see where she is coming from.

What I mean by balance is work on your abs which you can do at home, get lots of cardio in. All these things you don't have to do at the gym but you can there too.

I doubt your muscles become too big. I think a good combination would be between weight training and cardio. I think finding something that you enjoy is the key idea.

There is nothing wrong in going to the gym.If you do heavy weights you are bound to put on muscle. But mild weight training is advisable to tone the body.Do aerobic exercise combined with mild weight training for good health and body benefits.Relying only on weights will make you muscular.

Hai friend..I am not interested in gym classes..I am a female..Here,In our countries mainly the boys are joining to the gym classes..I believe that I am o.k with my present body and health..But some girls are over weight..So they are participating in gym classes to become thin..In my view,It's not needed..But some people want to make their body in a perfect shape and who needed some exercise for their over weight is going to gym classes..Some of my classmates(boys) are going to gym classes..This is my first experience about hearing girl's gym class..If you think that it's needed for your body's health,You can follow that...

i beg to differ my fellow mylotter. girls going to gym is perfectly normal and common. going to the gym is a perfect venue to keep yourself healthy. all the equipments and the area to do various activities are available at the gym. plus not all people's goals to go to the gym doesnt mean they want to be perfect it just means they want to be healthy. they want a good heart and an excellent metabolism.

i think there is nothing wrong with going into the gym. i am also a female and i used to go to the gym before. i also made use of some weights but not the same as those men use. i attend aerobics classes and i use the treadmill too for cardio. it's good to go to the gym because it will help you become more healthy and active. at the same time, if you're stressed out from work, it's also a good source of balance. ironically, if you're tired from work, for some reason, working out in the gym helps you feel rested after.
you can still continue on going to the gym but make sure to not to build muscles like men has. :-)

wow obviously your friend does not know what he or shes talking about. lifting light weights only means your toning your muscles. it does not go to the point of making them big.

It is if you do a lot of weight training. If you only use it a little bit and do other cardiovascular training you won't have to worry so much. Just be sure to balance it all out. A little bit of weight training is fine, and maybe to ease your mind you should talk to one of the trainers at your gym and ask them what for you would be the right balance of weights and cardiovascular workouts.

I don't think that there is anything wrong with a girl going to the gym, and I actually think that you should be proud that you're willing to put so much work into your fitness. There is a lot of incorrect information about fitness and what people would look like after they go to a gym, and there is no way that you would be able to gain a lot of muscle without eating lots of protein to be able to build the muscle. It doesn't matter how many weights you're lifting; if your diet isn't right then you're never going to be able to build a large amount of muscle.

Well if you are only sticking to the same amount of weight for all of the duration of your workout then fortunately or unfortunately for you then no. If you use lightweights then it is just fine for girls but if you want to lose fat then you should do more cardio such as jump rope, jogging etc. but remember, to lose fat weight and not muscle or water weight which means you should look into your diet also. focus more on eating the right foods rather than not eating at all as losing weight might sometimes mean that you lose fat AND also muscle and water weights in your body which IMO is not good. keep up the good work!

women don't tend to build muscle by lifting or weight lifting, those woman that you see having muscle are taking a supplement to build a muscle. it's okay that we lift it can help us lose weight. Only men I know can build muscle by lifting weight without the help of any supplement

your muscles dont become big by carrying light weights. the simple way of explaining it is that your muscles has a capacity of lifting weight. the only time it gets big is when your lifting more weight that what your muscles can handle. it is done by exerting much more effort in lifting the weight. this in turn forces your body to produce more muscle to accommodate the increased weight you are constantly lifting. bottom line as long as you carry light weights it wont become big. just more toned and fit.
