How do you define yourself?? By what standards do you go by?? Do you follow the standards of your religion?? Do you follow the standards of your holy book?? Do you follow what your parents taught you?? Do you follow peer pressure and what your friends want?? Do you follow society and what society thinks is best for you?? Do you allow others to define who you are??
God grants us all total freedom. Sure, we are influenced from many sources but it's up to each of us to define who we are. No one can have our view. How can we expose our true talents living the life someone else deems is right for us?? It's important to be US, make our choices and learn our lessons.
Choice is too important a thing than to allow others to make it for us. We are meant to stand on our own two feet. You know, we won't do so badly making our own choices regardless of what the world thinks we should be.
We should be who we must! It's a part of the plan! It is what God wants even if there are a few mistakes along the way.
So tell me. Are you really you??

I must have inspired you to write this discussion...
I feel like there are many souls in my body, sometimes I am a sinner and sometimes I am a good doer. Sometimes I want to become a seductress, at another I want to be a queen of innocent. But I embrace all of me, and make peace with myself. Isn't that the purpose here?

Yes,Being you is the important thing. Many people are not themselves for a variety of reasons. God wants us to be us, not what others want us to be. This world will work so much better if everyone is free to express that which is special about themselves.

Then you define yourself through your religion and holy book. Do you allow your children to choose how they define themselves? God allows us the freedom to choose. We should follow God's example. We should never attempt through control to prevent a person from becoming who they really are.
Those who really know God know that God has never been One to be feared. It is wrong to teach others to fear God.

"It is wrong to teach others to fear God."
Why? I love my children , I don't want them be fuel for the fire , and I want them to be who God said about them : "Indeed, the cautious shall live amid gardens and a river,in a secure abode, in the presence of the Powerful King." Al-Qamar - 54:55
Is it wrong because I want them to survive?
If we will not be fear God , Who we fear?
" But those who fear their Lord in the Unseen, for them there is forgiveness and a great wage."

Not really happy with myself. I could have done better. I do feel others are better off when compared to me, in terms of controlling their emotions, and managing their monies. lol. Ah well, let me see what I am good at...to feel content with me. I am inclined to be content so it is not easy to make me feel envious about anything..:( Because of this lack of desires ...I tend to be lazy to a great extent or contentment may be the result of my laziness. Whatever, if I feel I want something, I will get up for it..lol. But I do wish I had better communication skills so that others would understand me better. Yeah, I am really me..problem is bird even when I tell people no..I aint interested ..they are not taking it...so I am forced to be harsh with them, and then they feign surprise at that..forcing me to recall all the previous events, which seems petty. Usually, it is said that you should walk away from an environment that makes you uncomfortable. In my case, my father used to insist that I stay amongst my relatives who were bad. He would make it difficult for me to leave the job. There were so many such things that just went on adding up till I blew it. I dont really mind doing that. I know it is bad, and there is always a better way. Well, the way I did it was certainly not the best, even if it got me my freedom and changed pa's outlook.

Yes, when we allow others to impose their will thereby making our choices for us, it doesn't work out. We hurt until we realize that it's no longer what we can live with. We are all meant to be who we really are and make the choices for ourselves.
People hear what they want to hear. Often many do not want to hear what we are saying or what needs to be said. Sometimes, people try to avoid drama so much that they do not allow the truth to come out. Resolution can only come when the truth comes to the surface. Remember, do not let the drama bother you. It is the sound of the growing pains of those fighting to prevent change. Change must come if there is to be growth. Quietly, calmly, be firm, sharing your warmth, love and kindness with those who get angry because they can not get their way.
When we are ourselves, it ends up being better for everyone in the end. The interactions between those around us are arranged through the parameters of our life that God has set up. We are exactly what the people around us need in their lives. Being who we are is the only way the picture turns out perfect for everyone. This has nothing to do with gender for we are all equal in God's eyes.
You are right, Vandy. It's important to be us even with any mistakes we make along the way for that is only learning for ourselves and those around us.

Hi bird: I understand that your discussion is about freedom. Are we actually the ones that takes our choices or do we prefer that our religion or the system teach us what to think. I think that people should be free and not followers, to listen different opinions and find their own ways sometimes differing from the religious system they chose. However is undeniable that we are influenced by society, politics and religion when we ask ourselves what to do, what to think and what to believe.

Starsailover. You are exactly right. We are influences by many sources. We also influence others through our words and actions. This interaction is part of God's system of learning and growing as people. The problem comes when people allow others to make all their choices for them. Some people follow blindly assuming someone else's choice it better than theirs. That is never the case.
Some allow others into bullying them into a life that is not their choice. It can be from a parent, a wife, a friend, or most everyone. The system will always work better if each of us are free to express that which is special about each of us. The full picture of what God wants us to see will show itself then.
We should listen to the advice of others but walk our own path! Life's lessons are best learned that way.
Of course, I'm not worried about you Starsailover. You seem to stand on your own two feet. Be brave enough to point in the right direction those who do not see as clearly. The Drama you create might not only save a life, it will help others see what God wants them to see.

Needless to say,I am an average person like most of people in the world,But I have done what is right in my own sight. As to choice,I think not everyone can make their own choice sometimes.I always keep a word in mind, namely man is the sum of all social relations.

I define myself as a human, I have no standards for religion. Never did follow the Bible like many Christians back than, I don't follow peer pressure or my friends I follow my judgement. If people want to define me then let them, they don't know me so they can't give a valid judgement. We can expose our talents by just showing off and putting it to some use. Got lost after this part.
