hello mylotters! its summer already in the philippines and the super summer heat is already approaching. so its so loving to eat cold, frozen drinks, shakes, juice, soda, and ice cream when its summer. i heard one of the trending to eat this was the magnun almond ice cream. i am very curious with that ice cream everybody was talking about that. and everytime i go to the grocery to buy that ice cream it is always fully sold so i haven't chance to experience that magnun almond ice cream. Had anyone here already experience the magnum almond madness? and how much does it cost?

I guess it doesn't matter whether it was coated with belgian chocolate.

hello! your right, but as they say that magnum has this belgian chocolate coated which is the expensive content. but as i can see the chocolate coating is very thin that it could not even satisfy my taste. lol

I'm not affected my this magnum "madness" since I also didn't care about the cornetto "madness" either. I don't really like showing off that I can buy an ice cream that costs more than or equal to PhP 20.
I'm contented with my fave Twin Popsies...or drinking iced tea or juice at home

Hello Arianne! Just to answer your question, the said ice cream is at P50 which is quite expensive given that it's just like the Pinipig Crunch of the 80's. I stumbled across this article today that has stated that the said ice cream is overpriced.
http://sowhatsnews.wordpress.com/2012/03/22/unilever-asked-to-rollback-prices-of-magnum-after-it-was-discovered-to-be-overpriced/
This is not a referral link and you can see that our DTI has found that the said ice cream is indeed over priced and that it should just be sold at P15 (around $.40). The government agency has found that the reason for the high price of the said ice cream is because of it's endorsers and to create a media hype.
It is sad and I think stupid that people in our country will buy anything that's hyped up in social networking sites just to be "in" even if they can't afford it. You can shell out P50 and try it just out of curiosity. But I can tell you that I've had better tasting ice cream and it didn't have that much hype.

Last sunday after mass at around 12 noon, we headed for 7-eleven for lunch. My wife asked me how much does Magnum costs. I asked the cashier and I was surprised that it costs 60 pesos just for that ice cream. What kind of ice cream is that?
I would rather buy a pint than that.
Some reviews said that plain sundae from McDonalds is smoother than Magnum. Also, Some says that it was overrated and overpriced.
Perhaps, I will not dare buying this ice cream. I would rather result to pinipig crunch.
The price for this ice cream speaks for itself...MAGNUM!

Yes arriane I already read the news. They should use the correct price in selling this ice cream or else, it will not sold in the market.

I think its delicious but I find its chocolate and almond coating to sweet for my taste. I prefer Magnum Cappuccino or Classic.
I think its their way to promote the ice cream. Here last year they also do similar marketing gimmick. They limited the supply to made the customer really curious.
Why I knew this because my store selling it too. So in a month each store only given one book its 24 pieces for a month and demand really high at that's moment, its usually sold out in just one day. And the rest of month customer will keep asking until we got it the next month.
Now when its done, we can order every variant as much as we want but the sales not as big as before, because its every where right now.
I think they playing the same marketing strategy in your country like in Indonesia.

If you really want to try it and you live in Metro Manila, go to Shopwise in Cubao. No one is even giving a second glance at this ice cream.

Magnum ranks number one in the trending as far as frozen delights are concerned. This is always the topic among youngsters most especially. They have literally gone crazy over magnum especially Almond Magnum. Words are not enough to express their delight over the taste of this. I wish I could get one one of these days. They are always sold out in the nearby grocery store so I have not really given the chance to have a taste.

I have heard that this magnum ice cream does not really taste that good except for its chocolate coating but still, it does not equate to its price of Php 50. If I would buy an ice cream, I would just be buying my all time fave cookies n cream flavor ice cream :D

Nah, I have heard a fuss over this magnum ice creams- they said they cost so much since the chocolate is imported. I wouldn't buy it though, unless someones buys it for me. Ice cream is still the same, don't really want to spend more for ice cream if you can get a lot more for local ice cream which is delicious too..

this icecream is overhyped and overpriced,It like an overpriced pinipig crunch and we know how cheap pinigpig crunch were. Its not as heavenly as it claimed to be. they need to drop the price because its not worth it.Its one of the blandest bars in the market.

I was able to try all flavors of Magnum (Almonds, Chocolate Truffle and Classic) and I love almond the most. Classic's so-so and choco truffle's too sweet for my taste.
It's usually sold at 50 pesos each. As for the taste, yeah. It's really tasty and compared to the local ice creams we use to eat here, Magnum tastes good but again, it's a wee bit pricey :D I mean just add a little bit and you can eat "Hagen Dazs" or "Dreyers" :)
But if you simply want to try it out for the sake of... Well, trying it out, I can say 50 pesos's worth it :)

Eating ice-cream when summer day is really interesting. I love to eat ice cream but age is become the enemy of eating. I start eat less ice cream because my age getting old and older. I begin to control eating such thing even craved to eat.

I love ice cream! It’s the most reliable treat most especially in the summer season. The Magnum Ice Cream collection is a mixture of European and Belgian decent flavors that meets the sweet tooth’s palate.
I love that the ice cream is made by genuine Belgian chocolate and its components are more chocolate than ice cream.

hi arianne.
i tasted all three varieties of the magnum ice cream from selecta. i think it is not that special at all and the price is too steep for something that tastes like ordinary ice cream. in the sm malls, it costs Php50 while at convenience stores like 7-11 and ministop, it costs Php75.
i prefer the usual sundae from either mcdonald's or jollibee. better yet, i prefer the 'dirty' ice cream that is being sold in the streets for a fraction of what the magnum ice cream costs.
just my thoughts.
cheers!!!

haven't but had heard a lot of people talking about it. well, regarding the article that was mentioned in the firsts responses, even though Magnum is obviously overpriced, people do flock around and still patronize it. See how every time you pass by and hope to have a taste of it, it's gone (sold out). Well, i don't think i'd dare want to have one of those ice creams though. It's too expensive for a single ice cream on a stick.

hi there! i have been very curious about that magnum ice cream because everyone almost from my FB friends are posting their wants and experiences from eating that. So i told my husband about it. out of curiosity, when he went to SM to do our weekly grocery shopping, he bought the magnum, the one with almonds. he was not impressed. when our baby fell asleep, he told me he already bought magnum and that mine's in the freezer, i was surprised to see that it's just like the old school pinipig ice cream. I haven't chanced upon the commercial so i thought it's someone like the usual ice cream. so there, i ate and i was not also impressed. for me, it's ordinary and you are all right, it's overpriced!
if you can't find it anywhere, but if you happen to stroll at SM, it's all over the place. i don't know what's with this people who are crazy about this ice cream but in my own humble opinion, it's not something that i will not crave much.
better to eat pistachio flavored ice cream. :-)
