I know that there's a fine line between the three, but people rarely know how to distinguish them. They say they're in love, but in actuality, it's just plain infatuation. What are your thoughts? How can you differentiate that lovely feeling in you chest that makes you feel like you're having butterflies?

Yes, there is really a fine line differentiating the three, yet people sometimes find it hard to distinguish it because of their own biases. Perhaps they really want that person to be the one and not anybody else that is why they tend to ignore to assess their feeling as to whether it's love, lust or infatuation.

Certainly, I am not an expert about the difference between the three you've mentioned: love, infatuation, and lust. I don't even have a system of recognizing the difference in application but let me share something which may be a childish answer but let it be for the consumption of every one who will have the patience to read this response. True love can be known and tested through the passing of time. A person may say that he loves another, but the actions will surely say a lot. Infatuation is not necessarily love but it can grow to become true love. True love is displayed when a person denies himself for the other to have a better way. Lust is of course just a feeling of the flesh without any love in it. It will easily show by the body language and the actions afterwards. I hope you can give a better explanation of the three.
