Our little town is in a State of Emergency!!!!!!

Our town is flooded - With all the warm weather, snow melted too fast....and flooding is the result.

The little town (Perth-Andover, New Brunswick, which I live 15 minutes from, is still in a State of emergency since Friday at noon. With all the warm weather, the snow melted fast and with a ice jam below town, the water backed up and over the sides. I have enclosed a picture. The hospital lower level is flooded and evacuated, our elementary and high schools are flooded, businesses, homes, fire dept and it goes on and on. I feel so bad for this little town of about 2000...but we are strong and have been through this before in 1987, but this year it is much worse. Please pray for our town and the people affected. Thanks so much.

Hang in there. I hope everything will go well for your town as soon as possible. The most important in situations like this one is safety and not having any victims, if there aren't any then the rest can be healed sooner or later :) Best wishes from Greece.

I'm assuming it hasn't affected your home? Or has it? Sending good thoughts your way.

It is so awful when flooding happens, but it is also good to know that the people of your town are strong. This means that they will be able to make it through despite the adversity that they are facing right now. In the area that I live in, we've been lucky that we have not personally been devastated by any natural disasters, but people that live just a little bit over an hour away from us had their town pretty much leveled during an outbreak of tornadoes that occurred just about a month ago. What really amazes me about this is the fact that there are so many people that are working hard to help these people that are now homeless.

Oh my! Sending good vibes out your way . . . hope you and everyone out there has stayed safe! I just read a quick news article about it - wow. I hope they can resolve the issues of that area . . . apparently some people have lost everything due to this flood - and they need to do something for the future of that downtown area!! You take care and please do keep us updated when you have the chance!! Hoping for a speedy recovery of your town!

I hope it's a little better today in your town. I know that it's been warm out there, while we here in the west are struggling through November-like weather. Even today! I hope there isn't too much damage in the hospitals and schools.

So sorry to hear that Nadinest! I wish you and yours all the best and I hope that the town can recover. It seems as though we are seeing so many of these types of problems that are weather related. I do not like water so floods really scare me! Is your home affected? I certainly hope not.

Oh wow, this is so sad. The picture is very pretty yet so tragic too. I am hoping that the town will be able to cope soon and have help sent to get things back to the way they were before. I've never been in a town wherein there was a flood, always warnings but never any flood as bad as this.

I am sorry to hear this.It is very sad. Here in my country a lot of small villages were buried in snow this winter, and now the temperatures have rised very fast so we also expect a lot off floods in some areas. It is sad but this is nature and we can only respect her laws. All my prayers for you and everybody over there.

Your little town is in my prayers. I haven't heard of anything like that happening around here (I'm in Guelph Ontario near Toronto) and I hope it never does. It shouldn't happen to anyone!! I remember living in Arizona for about a year, where we either had FIRES or MONSOONS. I remeber thinking "if we had both at once the monsoons could put out the fire, and there'd be noting but steam."
