At 38, I haven't gone in an airplane yet in my life

My hubby has gone on a business trip and we have been sending text messages over the past hour since he didn't want me to go to the airport with him. I hope he has a safe flight and gets to his destination in one piece. This got me thinking, I haven't ridden an airplane in my life and I'm already 38.
It's not like I haven't traveled my country. I have but usually it is by land travel (bus) or sea (boat). Whenever my friends and I would talk about travel plans, they would get excited over their airplane experiences, on how air pockets make your stomach churn as if you're on a roller coaster. I couldn't relate to their experiences because I have no idea how it feels to fly in an airplane.
I wonder if there are people like me who don't have phobias, can afford to travel, but haven't really given much thought into getting an airplane ticket to get to a destination. I am looking at booking a trip for myself this year and I will fly (yehey!) but I really haven't booked anything yet. Hubby and I are planning on going to a historic province here in my country which if taken by bus would be a 10hour bus ride. If I can't get any ticket reservations that will fit my budget, it seems that we do have to endure that 10hour bus ride.

I did not fly on an airplane until I was way in my fifties and it was not because of fear, it was like you, we could not afford it. WE usually took the car and before when I was younger, got on the Greyhound and wound up where I was going and my aunt and uncle would meet me there. I did ride n a train and believe me it was not like Amtrak or the Orient Express or one of those seen in the movies. It was horrible. So I really loved the first ride on an airplane and I am scared of heights. I would be wary of going on an airplane now with those TSA agents, but with my sister-in-law having cancer, I might have to.

Trouble is that I need more AirMilesRewards. So charging using my AirMilesRewards card. It would take too much time to take the car and the grandkids would get a sty. And thanks for the best response.

There's plenty time in your life yet for you to make a plane trip,if you've managed your travel requirements so far without needing to use one..Depending where you live, they're not a necessity..but if you're going to travel internationally,a plane trip is usually the fastest and most convenient method of getting to your destination..I was just reading of a lady of 101 who made a parachute jump to celebrate! You needn't have to make a long international flight to see if you'd enjoy flying,though..Several airports around my area host airshows during the summer months, and at various times I've taken quick pleasure flights at these events in light aircraft,a seaplane, and Helicopters! good luck with your next trip!

A ten hour bus ride? I would rather not go, thank you! Flying is boring. Okay, you might get some fun turbulence once in awhile, but mostly it consists of being crammed into a tiny seat, not enough leg room, lousy food that would gag a maggot, and inevitably the joker in front puts his seat back so you're trapped like a veal in a cage.
What excitement? It's like prison, and you pay for it. The toilets smell funny and there isn't room to move. God forbid that the person in there before you did a big job or changed a baby's nappy, the smell will curl your nosehairs.
They tell you to get up and move around, but the moment you try to do that there will be a flight attendant telling you to sit down as someone is bringing a drinks trolley along. Maybe that's why your friends like it, they get plastered to kill the time.
But however bad it is, it's better than ten hours on a bus. That would put me off traveling anywhere, anytime. Ten hours! Yee Gods.

I had traveled by plane twice in my life. The first time I was only a small child.I had traveled nearly 100 kms by plane with my family members.I traveled by plane fo the second time in the last week of May last year. This time I traveled a much longer distance. The journey took a little more than an hour.It was a pleasure.A train covers the distance in about 16 hours. The plane covered the same distance in just one hour and a few minutes.

I have traveled in airplane many times once i traveled from India to Dubai and then from Dubai to Egypt. And in the domestic also i travel via airplane,it is the fastest way you can reach from one place to another. You should also try as at first there are butterflies in the stomach but once you travel in it the feeling is good.As the same happened to me when i was travelling for the first time.

Don't worry, I am sure there are people out there who haven't tried riding a plane. I have it experienced long time ago.Not too excited with my first flight and the flight is not scary as well. It's a hour plane ride to Singapore for a month vacation, and that was great.
Try it to get the feeling :)

I've tried twice already.
First, we attended a trade fair exhibits in Frankfurt, Germany. We flew from Manila to AbuDhabi to Netherlands. WE rode a train from Netherlands to Frankfurt. It was a very nice experience. Second, it was also a trade fair exhibit to Dubai. It is always best to ride a plane than a bus.

No worries, the time will come for yu finally have the chance to experience beig up in the air and be on a plane. I think you should try it at least once in this lifetime. It would be easier to ride a plane when traveling less time less hassle.

I am way to scared to get on an airplane. I've seen and heard too many horror stories! I have never been on an airplane and never want to!. Just thinking about an airplane ride makes my heart jump and makes my palms sweat. I will only travel bus, or boat. Well good luck!
