every birthday presents a new threshold,an entryway into a place you have never be. if you think of it as the same old place, then you will surely see what you've always seen. You can gather years or you can gather momentum just keep moving you will gain power, physical, mental and emotional. The passage of years has piled on many experience, the blessing of years is believing that nothing that has happened is for nothing.its no accident that this part of life is described as old.we should focus on growing up, becoming more mature on our decisions in life we make,be more responsible person as you could. what can you say?

I can say that what you put in this discussion has an old-tested wisdom. When we started our journey in this world of life, we experience many things that comes our way. We observe others as they try to become better or at least trying to show they want to be mature. We learn lessons from the experiences we have and that of the experiences of others. All these things are pointing toward growth and maturity. However, not all people will mature as they grow in age. Many of them have grown backward that they have a closed mind about many things that are new coming their way every day. Resistance to change will also stale our growth and maturity. Welcome these events and learn to move on.

Hi Gracepadirog, actually I find that many older people grow more stubborn, but not necessary wiser. They just stop learning, and think that everyone is inferior to them. Those older ones who keep on learning are very humble. They never look down on the young people, and they appreciate that all people, young, and old, are better than them in some ways.

Well we should grow wiser, more mature, and a bit more responsible. That is a fine idea in theory. But the problem is that it is only an idea in theory. For some people, it just seems like they tend to just slide forward as they get older on those levels, rather than propel up right to a higher height. There are times where people do grow up, be a little bit more mature, have a bit more wisdom, and just have it better together. Of course, there are just going to be a lot of times where some people just don't become all that mature at all. There are people out there who really don't have much more wisdom. Then again, there are just really just many times where people are just going to not have it much together. Then again, life is just a whirlpool of insanity, where things are just spinning out of control and even the wisest of us have no idea what it might may bring.

yes, for some people and for people who outgrow having birthday means another reason to celebrate the beauty of life. some may get mature as taking new responsibility and able to support self to form new life with a family. however, other become so mmune or become stagnant over time as they become lost with touch of the real world. the birthday just pass by and nothing really happen or improve just see the birthday wth no celebration treated it just like an ordinary day. this happen, the feeling especially if years gone by and being pass by an opportunity could not make any space for improvement because of waiting for something that did not happen.

I agree. As we age it is ideal that we would learn, grow and evolve as well. I like people who are older because they've been around the block a few times. Wisdom is a very attractive quality, from my point of view. I'd like to think that with, each and every birthday, I have more to offer others.

There is a general rule in life that says older we get the more we learn and wiser we get in the process but of course, there are always exceptions some people refuse to learn from their mistakes or the examples of others over time we get to see or experience a lot, and it helps in avoiding the future pitfalls so yes age and wisdom go together.

As one with a stable mind grows old, then relatively wisdom goes with it. The day-to-day life experience teaches us new things, explore, adapt, learn and be more informed, and be more wiser.

Yeah. as one is growing up, one should grow wiser.in a way, experience increases with ages. Now i am more than forty, looking back i find how foolish i was before.Sometimes i wish if i had been a little wise , i would not have made so many mistakes, and i would have made my child grow better.

I turned 34 last month. It's not the age actually that i'm counting, it's the wrinkles! Just kidding! On my birthday, I usually look back in the past and what i have done so far. I ask myself if i have done something worthwhile, important and something to be proud of. I also asked myself what mistakes i have made and try to learn from them. Yes i've gained wisdom over the years and i'm still learning and hoping to gain more.

the older the more you must become wise at least we have a proverb that says as a country more wise. Yet the more we age more we learn things which are wrong and should we be now a wise and do not allow the same mistakes. we should be more responsible and mature. interesting discussion.

Yes, as people grow older so should they grow wiser. But, apparently, that's not the case of many people. Then, everyone has different aptitudes and quotients with these life factors. We'll just learn to understand that people have different paces in growing up.
