I think, for you to enjoy life you also need enough money to sustain your needs.
Because if you very much lack the money for your needs , you will be stressed on how you will be able to pay all the bills that comes in living.
But for us to need just enough money, we should learn to simplify our needs. Once we learn how to live simply, you will also learn to enjoy life even at its simplest forms.

hmmm i think it is better to have money just as long as you know how to manage it. a lot of people who got a lot of money, got a lot of money owed from other people too, like debt. so that is really no a good move.
even if someone does not have that much money, just as long as he/she can sleep at night because of peace of mind.
and also for me, i can only enjoy life, if i have my love ones close to me and we can have a vacation together and just enjoy each others' company and just do and get what ever you want. of course, we can not achieve that without any money right?

In my opinion, money is important but not everything. How are we going to make a wife, children, and our families happy if we do not have the money. It is a fact that we live in an era that the money plays an important role. On the other hand, the mental piece is also important to guide our attitude in spending money makes us feel happy.

I believe in these days both money and mental peace are important and I believe mental peace is more important than having big money since we can not achieve any goal in life without mental peace.......
The sad part of debate between health and wealth is that sometimes circumstance force us to earn money at the cost of health I believe that is real hurt-hurt situation in which not only we hurt ourselves but also we hurt many unintentionally.....
SO I advise all to earn mental peace than use that mental peace to earn money but do not get overwhelmed by greed since it will cause loss of health if you overdo to earn lots of money ........

I dont' think money and happiness directly correlate. But I know that when I do have an extra padding in my checking account, such as when I act "frugal" for a little bit, I Find myself happier and more content with myself. (Proud of myself for using my money wisely). Also when I am out of credit card debt, it's literally like a weight has been lifted. I do like that feeling. I like the feeling of financial security too. Financial troubles weighs us down SO much and I can see how it would cause unhappiness & stress. I don't think that means we would necessarily be super happy if we were rich (in the sense "the more money the better") but I think financial security in general can make us happy, or at least HAPPIER than we were when we were broke.

I think that your health is by far more important than money. My mother always told me that if you have your health you have everything. You could have all of the money in the world but if your feel bad and are in bad health than your not going to enjoy it.

I think you will not be able to settle down with mental peace yet no money to buy the basic/spend. It will definitely lead to stress. I think both of them are importance equally.

I think that if we are taling about the extremes ie. having lots of money or having no money then yes either way something is going to be forfeited, but I think if a person can manage finances on a day to day basis then not having alot of money is going to be detrimental. I think when an individual can enjoy life and still survive they are at better odds then the individuals at either end of the spectrum.

Well..both are needed. If I will say, mental piece is needed not money...it sounds filmy/theoretical....In practical life it never happens...We have to live and for that we need money...And yes mental peace is equally important, because, what a person will do with millions of dollars if he can not even sleep peacefully....

I honestly have to say that mental peace vs enough money is a tough choice. We all need both our sanity and money to live from. I would have to say that finding a happy medium would suit me best.

It's a false choice. It's like those stupid "Health vs Wealth" debates they have at school. In reality, they tend to go together. All the money in the world won't do you any good if your head's messed up - you'll just lose it. On the other hand, if you're dog dirt poor, you'll be stressed up, probably won't be eating right and most likely living in a high crime rate area. You absolutely need to take care of both the physical and spiritual/emotional/psychological sides.

Mental peace is more important as money but it's hard to have mental peace if you have no money and everybody expects you to pay for everything.
Fact is we live in a world where you have to pay for it. In the western world even more as elsewhere. Even if you just want to sit outside, want to spend some time in nature you have to pay for that many times.
It's the same with (healthy) food, living in a more healthy area etc.
But real happiness has to be inside of you, it's a feeling. It's the same with enjoying your life. It has to be in you, you need an open eye, have to be able to see the small things in life to enjoy. Especially if you have nothing to spend (no money).

Sorry,I don't agree.Having money does not mean enjoying life.I have come across many rich person who are beset with problems. They never smile. You will always see a shadow of gloom on their faces. They don't have a sound sleep at night. They have a lot of money, but they are not happy. On the other hand, there are some poor persons who live happily. They laugh wholeheartedly. Also there are poor persons who look sad and unhappy. In fact, happiness or sadness do not depend on wealth or poverty. They are states of mind.

I have responded to a number of discussions with the same theme, so I'll just make this one very short.
Mental peace as you termed it is certainly very important, but sad to say.... You won't have mental peace if you don't have money.
