Well, I just thought...
Based on my experience on how i succeeded to lose weight then gain them back, lose and then gain and then lose and so on and so forth... the real problem is what you do after you get there... haha...
I know it would seem a little crazy. because once you lost it and have seen yourself looking nicer and slimmer like you've always wanted, you'd keep it that way. You'd be inspired to maintain it. But there always comes a time for something like "exhaustion", it's when inertia comes in and would make you feel like you want to go back into being "free"!!! Free to munch at any time of the hour, free to put in all those carbs and calories at a very "satisfying" amount.
So now that i've finally reached this point again, i hear my brothers say "We'll give it a couple of weeks and then you'll start gaining back what you lost"... They say it not to discourage me, but because it has been something like a cycle to me. It's pretty hard for maintenance here at home because mom loves cooking and she cooks so well...
So with all these, I think and am convinced that maintenance is the hardest part of the process of weight loss!
Happy mylotting!

It is called yoyo diet. Actually we had the same sentiments, after achieving my desire weight I began to celebrate and ate what I like because finally I reach that goal, until I realize it was too late for me to realize that I am gaining again way beyond my usual weight and it makes me depress a bit, and when I am depress I tend to eat. Sigh I wish we can stay what we want to picture ourselves in our mind, now it so hard to lose again those I gain.

I agree with you Maintaining is the hardest part. Also I think there is another aspect than maintaining that we need to reconsider when we want to keep the perfect weight that we gained. This another aspect is 'Moderation'. You still can enjoy your mom tasty cook without worry of gaining back as long as you know how much you can have and you know when to stop. Some people have diet by stop eating certain food, to me that's not necessary as long as we have it in moderation. We can keep slip and enjoy whatever we want to have. Happy mylotting to you too.

hi jd.
i understand how you feel and i do agree with what you wrote. achieving your ideal weight is hard but maintaining it is much harder. i was weighing 165 pounds last april and i've managed to trim down to 140 pounds last november. i would occassionally hit 142 sometiems even as high as 145 pounds especially after weekends since sunday is my 'cheat' day. anyway, i've grown tired of my weight 'yoyoing' from 140 to 142 pounds so i've decided to be more careful about what i eat during the weekends. everytime, i go through the weekend maintaining the 140-pound weight that i have, i'm extremely happy about it. anyway, i'm still trying to lose five more pounds and reach my ideal weight of 135 pounds. that is my target weight and hopefully shedding the additional five pounds and keeping it off my body will be an easier task. hoping against hope , i know. lol!

I have been maintaining for about a year. I started sliding right after the holidays and put on about 10 pounds, but it was very noticeable in the way that my clothes were fitting. My husband and I joined a gym, mostly to have access to the pool and cheaper swim lessons for our child. In 4 weeks, I have lost that weight, but I find myself wanting to eat much more than in the past.

True, maintaining is problem. I think to maintains a certain weight, you should make sure that the amount of calories that you consume daily is just what is required. Make sure that you calories are just enough for the day's activities so that your body won't have extra to store.
