Yes, it was more than a myth, also a real person indeed. And the very first appearance of "Count Dracula" is in Bram Stoker's novel DRACULA (1897). But Stoker did not make up the name "Dracula". There was a Dracula in the 15th century: Vlad the Impaler. Stoker didn't know much about him (most probably) but he came across his name in a book he was researching entitled AN ACCOUNT OF THE PRINCIPALITIES OF WALLACHIA AND MOLDAVIA (1820). This book has a very short section on a "Voivode Dracula" who fought against the Turks. What attracted Stoker to the name "Dracula" was a footnote by Wilkinson which stated that "Dracula in the Wallachian language means devil". Not quite accurate, but that is what Stoker saw and copied into his notes. He was originally going to call his vampire "Count Wampyr" but changed it to "Count Dracula." This change is clearly made in Stoker's own notes for DRACULA which are located at the Rosenbach Museum in philadelphia. The real Dracula (about whom we know much more than Stoker ever did) was NOT a Count, nor was he a vampire (or ever associated with vampires). The two Draculas have become greatly confused in many people's minds.

I am not scared of vampires as I have never been threatened by one.
I'm sure if you wanted to drink blood you could but eating a balanced diet woud then depend on the lifestyle of your prey - you could catch something or get malnourished.
I am curious as to whether you loose weight if you are turned because I could do with loosing a few pounds.

speaking of lifestyle of your prey, heavier people carries an extra mile of blood vessels for every extra pount so it would seem the heavier folk would be in danger..like a shark that bites a human,,usually spits them out with damage since they are thinner atletics swimmer not like a juicy seal. not sure what transformation would occur if we could become the visitors of the night. Not sure if stomach acids would neutralize bad things in bloodstream.

No I am not scared about it's an imagination, as Stocker's Dracula is. But I am happy I am not in the 15th century while the real Dracula existed. Stoker did not make up the name "Dracula". There was a Dracula in the 15th century: Vlad the Impaler. Stoker didn't know much about him (at least I don't think he did) but he came across his name in a book he was researching entitled AN ACCOUNT OF THE PRINCIPALITIES OF WALLACHIA AND MOLDAVIA (1820). Why would I be scared of something that is not real? I am sure it is possible to drink blood everyday, but don't worry it is not a normal thing.

Vlad the Impaler of the clan of the Dragon was a true historical character.
He were well known for its cruelty with the enemies.
His vampires attitude were just popular legends born for his bloody impaling attitude.
That genius of Bram Stoker just got the legends and wrote a wonderful book on that fascinating king of horror.

No I am not scared about something that is an imagination. Nevertheless, that's a myth, and somehow every myth has an origine. Vlad Dracul was real. Vlad the Impaler was real. Bram Stoker was real. Dracula was a creation of Stoker, it incorporated differnt pieces of history.
Asking if Dracula was a real person leaves an open ended question; Dracula existed ... in the form of a character in a novel.

i don't know what do you know about dracula, and what have you heard about him. i don't know if dracula, the vampire is not only a story, but this nobody can tell you for sure. i am from romania and i think you have heard about vlad tepes, who lived in transylvania. this vlad tepes was named dracula, because of his madness. (you can search things about him and find more).
no, i am not scared about vampires, and i like a lot the idea of vampire. i have made a passion from this and i am reading about them. i belive you can drink blood everyday, and also you can live drinking only blood. i have seen a documentary about real person who drink only blood on discovery channel.

Its just a product of imagination. Like here in Philippines, there is a creature we called "mananangal" (human that can divide herself into two upon applying some magic oils, the upper part will have a bat-like wings and the other part she will hide. Because when someone see it and pour some salt and garlic it will be burned. Like what i've said just the same as dracula, these are just a story.
