Sometimes one must travel.I was travelling across the southern United States. Some parts can be pretty rural. I was tired of driving so I pulled off the road to take a break. There was an old abandoned Cotton Gin. Yes, this was a very old, run down Cotton Gin. It seemed to be the perfect place to walk around. I walked around the back of the gin. I experienced something surprising. IT WAS TOTALLY QUIET. There was no sound of traffic, no sound of birds, bees nor insects. I could not believe there was a place like this possible. It was total Peace. I realize now that this is a Noisy World we live in. How about you?? What do you think??

It is possible that there are places that are really noisy and there are also places that are very scary quite. It just happens that you have found a place you do not expect to be very quite and as if abandon due to its tranquility. Some silent places are found in the forest with just the sounds of insects and birds can be heard.A total noisy places are in the urban cities whereby cars and buses have a duet horn blowing,so are the stereos and bars are having the disco music playing.Enjoy your travel.

Yes. We must all get away from all that noise from time to time.

We have the same objective in life the of living outside the noisy and polluted city. We have at last move to the less urbanized place where life is like in the provinces. It is really very quite here that you could hear the frogs singing every twilight especially during rainy season.

Hmmm?? Frog Legs. Just how big do those frogs get around your house?? Hmmm??? Silence and a full stomach. It doesn't get much better than that. Kidding, of course, I couldn't resist. Sounds like a wonderful place to live.

I get easily irritated when it's noisy and I'm outside. It disrupts my thinking and forces me to do stupid decisions. One time I even found myself inside the women's bathroom without even knowing why I was there at the time. I just remembered that I needed toilet paper since I was planning to poop in the *men's* bathroom.

With all that wandering, one can find himself in some strange places. I understand how a lot of noise and things going on around one can cause one not to think straight. That's a sure sign that it's time for a timeout.

Yes, I do understand how workplaces think. They don't worry about the mule. They just overload the cart and expect it all to get done. That can create a great amount of stress on those who allow it. Relax, do the best you can do then don't worry about it. I find that it all works out somehow in the end. Yes, you are right. It's time for a nice quiet walk through nature just to relax a bit.

Yeah, but sometimes a "timeout" is not an option, a good example is when you're in the workplace. My workplace can get too noisy and it can really cause headaches when you're doing your loads. All you can do is cope with the noise and get a grip of all the calmness you still have.

Totally quiet place, not even sound of birds, bees nor insects, that is strange and extraordinary, what 's the name of this southern 'town' where this run down Cotton Gin located?? I want to settle there, it is just wonderful to have a place like that in U.S./ You are right, we live in a noisy world and it is way too much noise for us from all these hearing impaired people driving their boombox around, construction going on whole day long, noises from moving vehicles, and air planes. I can agree with you, it is just impossible to find any noise free place in this land anymore, it is just amazing for you to land on this "perfect" place here. Cool!

It wasn't near a town. It was in the middle of nowhere. It was deep in the south. Where else? Mississippi. I bet that gin was a going place 100 years ago.

Hi bird: I can't agree more with you my friend. Our world is getting really noisy that we seldom have time to be in contact with nature or at least to stop and enjoy the beauty around us. We are constantly being bombed by noise which is the reason for so much stress. Let's give sometimes a chance to be with ourselves and turn off the rest of the things. ALVARO

We hear so often of people being stressed out. That quiet, peaceful time with nature is important to recharge our batteries. Even though we can get used to any surroundings, it's not in our natures to be away from nature.

Sounds like a creepy place, I would not stay long to enjoy the quietness... I don't like too noisy place but I also don't like too quiet place. I have to be in a place where there is a living proof atmosphere like a car running, a child screaming, birds chirping only not too much of them please...

Creepy?? I guess if I had watched a few horror movies, I would have expected a few guys with masks and chainsaws to jump out of that gin and chase me down the road. That isn't a common occurrence in reality. It was a unique experience. I understand how too much silence could start to bother one after a while. It was a welcome break for a while.

Yes, for just a moment, it was good to have no noise at all, just for a moment...

Isn't that true? I came from another country and it was really noisy cause I lived like in the biggest city in there, even one of the biggest in the whole world. Now I live where there's nothing, there are a lot of green and mountains, I love it and I do prefer, cause I lived in both places and realize that a calm place is better, specially if we thinnk about the air we breath. But in the begining I could 'HEAR' the silence! It was so silent that it was loud, lol. Before in the city traffic stopped at 2 and at 4 it was noisy again.

Living out in the country is the only place to really live. I like what you said when you said that you could Hear the silence. That describes behind that Cotton Gin perfectly. It's something I hope everyone gets to experience in their lifetimes. Yes, we are lucky.

I have probably said this two or three times since yesterday on here, but I am the type of person who needs the quiet. I have lived in both the suburbs and the country, and the country life is for me. I hate the sound of traffic, noisy neighbors and the such. Yesteday I got so annoyed at it all that it literally made me tired and angry. I would have loved to have found that cotton gin with you. I love the sounds of nature or just no sounds at all. We do live in a very noisy world, but to escape to areas of no noise, that is pure bliss for me.

Yes,seems the cars, concrete , pollution, and noise are not really natural for a person. They create stress whether we realize it or not. It is such a joy to get away from it all to a quiet peaceful place with nature.

Mornings are absolutely peaceful. I walk out into balcony and watch the birds warming their wings. The yellow flowers on trees this summer (it is summer here) are late in blooming but there is some breeze so they do dance and look glorious. The sky too is quiet. Love mornings. :) I hate the sounds later in the day. The peace that I am experiencing these days is something I love bird. I hope this lasts for the rest of my life because I have been through a lot before coming here. I think I deserve this for the balance life.

I'm lucky, I live in the wilds of Wiltshire in England, and finding really quiet places is just not that difficult. The places I like best, though, are the ones where the birds sing and the brooks babble. We have those here, and it's a nice way to lose track of time and just think. It is a very noisy world we live in, and anyone who can find some peace and quiet should recognise how lucky they really are.

Yes, the sound of flowing water in a stream always gives me a calming effect. I agree. Those who have their place of quiet and solitude are lucky indeed.
