Doomsday preppers

Remember Y2K? Everyone thought the world was going to end as we know it. Computers would crash and we'd have to go back to pre-electricity times. People were frantically preparing for the worst, stocking up on food and necessities. I was only ten years old and really had no idea what was happening, but I was scared. That was the first New Years I ever made it to midnight. I didn't want to be asleep when the world ended (I thought we were all going to die). Now we have the "actual" end of the world approaching us. People are prepping all over again, but are taking it all to a new level. There are TV shows about these people. My grandma was watching "Doomsday Bunkers" last night, which is about people who pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to have bunkers built for their families underground. They're meant to protect them from the end of the world. One bunker I saw was 1200 square feet and cost $450,000 to complete. One man was teaching his family how to shoot zombies (non-preppers) for the day the world as we know it ends. I'm not into this whole prepping for the end of the world thing. People talk about it, and yea I've thought about it, but I don't obsess over it. The way I see it, if the world is really going to end, there's nothing we can do to stop it, no matter how much money we put into a bunker. And if nothing happens, theses people will have spent all of that money for no reason. What do you all think about the end of the world approaching and preparing for it?
