How can we know or guess whether a discussion will be deleted....

I know that mylot delete the discussion which violate the guidelines.. But still after post I am unable to recognize a discussion which will stay log or get deleted. I have got notifications many time saying that your answer was deleted because the question was deleted. And I found that most of these deleted discussion is of poll type, that is why it is deleted. But I am unable to recognize whether it is poll type or not.. I think many face this problem, because I found that the discussion earned 20+ responses still it was deleted..yesterday i responded to a discussion, where it asked which is the category you spend more time for shopping? and it was deleted.. Some of my questions were also deleted due to poll type question and i contacted admin and asked whether my account is in danger due to this, and she replied that you are nowhere near to it, don't worry. But i wish to know in this case: If our answers is deleted due to the question deletion, will it lead our account to danger(account deletion)?? Actually I was supposed to start this discussion like this: with you experience in mylot can you guess whether a discussion will be deleted. But i felt that it may resemble a poll type one so i changed my mind.. Still i don't know whether this discussion will be deleted or not? So now I am not answering to discussion which pose question, responding only for statement type discussion..If you know to recognize poll type questions, please tell me the trick.

and read the guideline as it tells what goes in a discussion and what does not go in a discussion; if you knew the ru les would you deliberately break them? of course not.so learn them. and welcome to mylot hatley here.

breaking the rule deliberately is not good, that is why i am trying to find questions which will be deleted.. so that i will not break the rule, as the discussion will be deleted.. And i think, many senior mylotters like you, know well in the first look, that this discussion is going to be deleted. Because in many of the deleted discussion, I have not seen response from senior mylotters. So now I have made a strategy to answer for question where senior mylotters have responded.. Have you responses deleted in recent time, because of question deletion...

Wel...i neva said to break such rules...and i know them very well...Even I respect them... But that is just my PERSONAL OPINION that there shud me nothing wrong in posting ur earnings.. I am not going against it..Its just a personal thought..

Yes you are right and this type of thing also happened to me twice in the past two days and from today I have been choosing only the discussions which are not question type.As earlier I have also started a discussion like this "what type of ice cream you like" and it was deleted as it was a poll type question so from now i am avoiding the question type discussions.

but some questions, we can recognize, that it is poll type and will be deleted. But many time, I does not feel as poll type question but still mylot consider it as poll type question. so just going away from question type discussion. And we will also lost our money that we earned from this deleted discussion, which will be deducted later.. So beware of questions...

As i found, there are many discussions deleted in a day, so if they start give warning, then they will only find time for that.. And not many senior mylotters have responded to this discussion, so i don't know, whether this discussion also be considered as poll type.

If a topic asks you which do you prefer?, which is your favourite?, which is better this or that? then you can be certain that it will be deleted. A topic must have something to discuss for it to be a quality topic.

We don't have 'to guess' which topics will be deleted. All the violations are clearly stated in the Guidelines. When you read a topic ask yourself "is there something to dicsuss in this topic?" If the answer is no, then move on and don't bother posting. If the answer is yes then post a response (and comments on the other responses) and get a dicsussion moving forward. Only topics with substance to discuss, if they are not some other form of violation such as a promotion, a plagiarised topic or an individual issue for example, will pass the test and remain for us all to participate in. MyLot wants quality discussions and a topic that is just a poll or a survey foes NOT fit that description.

venkit as I said above, we should not just notice the title. We are not discussing the title but what is contained in the topic. If there is no substance in the topic then rest assured that it is pointless responding. However, even if the title appears to require only a yes or no answer, but then goes on to state a case and gives us something to discuss, it is likely to turn into a quality discussion and has more chances of remaining.

surely, some questions produce quality discussion, but deleted because it can be answered with yes or know. Take this discussion for example: If i had started discussion like this: with you experience in mylot can you guess whether a discussion will be deleted? then it can be answered with yes / no, but i think now this discussion will stay here.. so how to know a poll type or not, it is a big challenge for me..

But some poll type discussion, earns 10 to 15 responses in very quick time and still it is deleted. If there is nothing to discuss then, why these 10 to 15 responses come.. I know that it is not the question that matters, it is the topic that matters... But if some topic is stated as a question, there is more chance to get it deleted due to poll type one.. so now I am trying to avoid answering for Questions and look forward for statements..

We cant know about when our discussions is deleted. But after getting a mail we can read the reason of deletion. Once my discussion was deleted after receiving 70 responses and after 4 month it was deleted.

receiving 70 response, still the discussion got deleted! That too after 4 months... if the discussion stayed for 4 months and yielded 70 response then surely it had something to discuss, and still it got deleted.... That is why I am saying that, it is impossible to find if a discussion will be deleted or not..

I suggest that you must read the guidelines, that way you'll be guided of the do's and donts.

I have read the guidelines, years before, and i know poll type discussions are not allowed here. But how can i judge whether it is poll type or not, that is my doubt..

I suppose that it must be a more-detailed type of post. That's what I've noticed from the deleted posts- it's lack of details, hence myLot admin would deem it as a poll type of discussion, in my view it's just okay to do a poll-type but you must see to it that it's a very detailed one, don't post just a single sentence or two especially one that ends with a question mark.

In guidelines, it clearly states that we should not start poll type discussions, so just be aware of it.. Read guidelines, there are more violations, stand away from all those things..

i think you can't prevent when a discussion should be deleted and so your account isn't in danger for the delation don't worry..in reality sometimes happen to me too that some posts i wrote in some discussions were deleted because the discussion was deleted but in no case i received a warning from mylot staff about my account so in reality some discussion are simple to understand th e delation because they asked practically nothing but in the majority of cases your account is safe...for te moment...

well, that is good to know.. This is what I have also thought. but now I am not answering to questions or avoiding questions, because i think majority of questions will be poll type and will be deleted.

"which js the category you spend more time for shopping?"is polling all people cannot you see that,it asks for a one word answer from a large group a poll . you could reword that and it would fly by making a statement that leads to a discussion .state which category you usu ally use and expound on it then ask us mylotters take on that. it will lead to a discussion then.

So what about these discussions: Do You Think That Mylot Newbies Are Expecting Too Much? Can we attribute the present surge of bangladesh cricket to the BPL ? Will you take careof your parents when thery're old and gray? these discussions also fall in the category, which you can be answered with yes/no.. But these are not deleted and I have responded to these discussions.. So how can i understand before, responding that a discussion is poll type.. And if my answer is deleted due to the question deletion, then will my ratings get affected, will it lead to deletion of my account?? Actually in past month around 10 of my response would have been deleted due to the question was deleted. In most of them question would have been deleted, because it was poll type(I guess). So will this affect my account badly..

Just like you said, poll type discussion and many more of this nature may face the fate of delete by the admin. The list go on and on, we just have to be careful and not discuss everything we think is fine, the final say is up to Mylot's admin.; even though i don't quite understand why some of the seemingly alright discussion here but also got deleted after a few days. Your guess is as well as mine.

ya, me too have felt some discussion are quiet good and didn't find anything violating the guidelines, but these are deleted, any way its mylot admin's choice.Luckily this didn't get deleted. that is surely good. And now i respond more than starting discussions..

Any discussion can be delete if it violates mylot rules regardless of how much response it has received The title can be misleading sometime but the description should have something which mylotters can discuss about there are many poll types topic created in cricket interest.many a time the starter don't keep there point in details

It is not only in cricket, but in many other interest group also poll type discussion happens and it is deleted. And i know it is not the question, that decides the poll type discussion and matter is more important. But some time i have felt that, many discussions are deleted as poll type, even if it as some matter to discuss.
