I often turn on the radio and I begin to listen to some of the music that has been created in this day in age and I realize wow hw much has music really changed. There seems to be very little meaning in some of the music today and moreover I feel that some of the music is degrading. As a new mom I wonder what will my son listen to and will it be this poorly written? Oh boy. I make sure I listen to a variety of oldies so my son can appreciate the arts from the past as well.

The problem isn't that music has gotten worse. It's that pop culture/music has focused on things that are worse. Not that music hasn't had any crap in it in the earlier days.
It's just today, we need to look a little bit harder to find music that is well written. Instrumentally and lyrically.

Oh I know that there are masterpeices. I was just impyling that when you turn on the radio its not like listeing to a frank sanatrra. Instead most music when you turn on the radio seems to be about inappropriate topics. I know there are still good musicians.

I agree with you lady. Music has lost all meaning. It has become too commercial. In the past you could listen to a song and even break down in tears. It’s a good thing listening to oldies with your son. He too will appreciate music.

Hi Cruride,
There is plenty of new and meaningful music out there to be listened to. I am forever finding new stuff that I absolutely love. As long as I've listened to music and I've been listening for a long time, there has always been nonsense lyrics that have little or no real meaning. I do agree that a lot of the music is pretty degrading these days. Back when I was a teen, there was censorship and a lot of what there is now would not be asily available for kids to listen to.
I started listening to music as a little girl. My father always had it playing so I have a fondness of the real real old stuff as well as newer stuff that was being played. My kids were exposed to all the older stuff too and love it and also much of the newer stuff.

I have to agree with you, to a certain extent. It is true that there are some songs, which don't seem to hold any meaning, or anything like that. However, I wouldn't say that this is the case for every song out there. I do know of quite a number of songs that do have a message to send out, and are quite the opposite of the sort of songs that you mention.
