Was watching an episode of Monk yesterday and I was once again reminded why this show lasted for 8 seasons. It was indeed a classic.
Tony Shaloub "carried" the character of Monk. His portrayal was on point, it's no wonder the show had so many nominations for awards or just simply won awards.
I recall being glued to my TV set when the show came to it's last hurrah in the eigth season, and I was glued as the time came for the final reveal as to who killed Adrian Monk's wife Trudy.
Many a great shows have been created and aired, but MONK was a classic all on it's own. It was truly one of primetime's best detective mystery series of all times.

I love this show! All of the actors are excellent! Even though the plot's sometimes are wild and unbelievable, they are always entertaining.
I was diagnosed with OCD 2 years ago & that is when I found the show. I highly identify with so many of his habits and gestures. I find myself sticking up for him and getting angry when people are short with him.
I hope they bring this back and make a new series with Tony Shaloub.

One could only hope, but I think Tony Shaloub grew tired of playing the character, which is why it was cancelled, because they were going for a ninth season and he said no.
He must have done alot of research to capture how a person diagnosed with OCD lives and acts, I find that people should respect individuals who have been diagnosed with the conition.
Sometimes I wish I was or least had some traits, because of the neatness trait. Everything is clean and nice at all times.
Please don't mind this question, but are all persons diagnosed with OCD as neat and tidy as the character of Adrian Monk??? Is it a true depiction??? I'm using him as a reference.

I love the show and bought every season of the show. Tony helped bring awareness to OCD, which he has experienced in his life. I have watched him talking about how it affects his life.
Sadly, I wasn't happy with the end of the show, but realized that it was going to be hard to solve the crime with such short notice that the show was ending. I think they should have done one season just about the crime or at least let viewers have a conclusion that was written better.

I got into the show because of Tony Shalhoub. He was great as Antonio Scarpacci in Wings. That was a great show also at least until Thomas Haden Church left. I was really disappointed by the way they ended Monk. After 8 years, I felt they trivialized the ending and changed some of the story line regarding Trudy. Because of that, I don't watch the show anymore.
