Is there a law that requires you to answer the judge's question if asked what your job is?

In the court of law it is imperative that you answer whatever question you are asked by the lawyer or judge if you are standing in the witness box. Most people will not have any problem in answering this question if whatever work they do is legal and above board and if it helps in the investigation. If the work they are doing is illegal then they will naturally come into trouble as they cannot refuse to answer the question.

Is there a law requiring you to answer that particular question if the judge asks what you do for a living?

i think you should. and if it's talking about child custody you really have to answer if the judge will ask you about your job. cause this is one way to determine if a person is capable to raise his/her children
