employee error

If I won a lottery jackpot and it was advertised as Billions of dollars. Rest assured if I won I'd want what was advertised and there are laws here in my state that companies have to honor pricing errors. I would imagine something like this would fall under similar circumstance. Do you think the winners should receive the portion of the advertised winnings? or accept the excuse of an employee error and settle for barely enough to fill a gas tank? http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/03/23/us-lottery-bungle-idUSBRE82M0T520120323

Not that I play the lottery at all, but I think I would be happy to win anything at all. I might ask if they could compensate for the mistake, but I wouldn't become angry because of an error.

In a legal standpoint, I would check with the companies fine print on the subject. Does it state in some manner that you are unable to proceed on your claims due to a employee (staff) error? Another thing to consider is will your claim break the company? Is it a legitimate error? If it’s a family owned corner store, I would say no, Accept the error and learn from their mistake. If it’s a mega retailer or lottery company, then I might reconsider. Weigh in with the moral compass. It will always point you in the right direction.

Well, here in the State of California, if you win, you still have to pay a certain amount of taxes to the state out of your winnings. You would still be winning, and you would still win the money, it's just that a small portion of it has to go back to the state.

I would be quite irritted. I would be asking for atleast Half a Mil if I had that happen to me. I don't care if it's computer error or not, or human eror, it was an error they should have caught BEFORE sending it out.
