Hi, people have their own way of naming their pets. I had a cat named MUSHROOM,and another cat named COFFEE, coz he was so dark colored... There was another female cat that we named FIERCY because she was so 'fierce'. She was a wild cat and would come only for food...Please do share your cute cat names...!!!

I have to cats. I named them mangming and mawmaw. Its what I thought I heard them sound like when they were young. I am sad to say, that its quite a sad day for me,because when I got home from work, my parents told me that mangming was impounded! Father do not want to get her, and I also can't because I have work tomorrow. My mom promised she'll pick her up tomorrow morning. I just hope she's safe.

Yes, I am already here in the office right now wondering if my mother has alreadt got her this morning. I was calling our house but I think there's something wrong with the phone because it was just ringing. I'll give you an update when I get home, or when I contacted them.

My cat's name is "tinkerbell". She is a black cat and she is very sweet. When I am watching television, tinkerbell will also watch with me. She eats a lot of cat foods, maybe one can a day.

My son who was 6 when he got his first kitten did not know what to call it; so, he asked the kitten what it's name was. You guessed it. The kitten said "meow" and that is what it's name became.
My husband named his siamese kitten - DOG. (It did cause a little confusion at the vet's office.)

My husband said he did it so he could see the look on people's faces when he called "here dog" and a cat came instead.

Our last cat was a tom called "Sleepy" for obvious reasons. The one before that was called "Johnny Cat" after a popular brand of cat food. When they were small, each of our children had a favorite cat. Our daughter called hers "Buddy", but our son called his black tom "J.B." When asked why he chose that name, he said that it stood for something I'm not allowed to use on MyLot. That son was born in 1960. Things have changed somewhat since then.

That it sooooooooooooooo cute! lol!
I have a friend that named her dog tofu, the other misso. I think for a cat there plenny like Melody, Fluffy,Kitty, Mimi, Momo, Nina.
I love Lord of the Rings so maybe I would also look into elvish dictionary amd put two beautiful meanings together. That way people will ask you what it means
Do you have a favorite movie hero or childhood's? It could be his name.
If I had a big Dog I'd call him Thunder, or Pegasus, lol. So they become even cooler than they are.
Now my pets have all human's names.
There was also on tv a woman that named her poodle...............
...............Madonna..............

yes that's right, there are plenty of names that we give to cats that sound cute...not so with the dogs (according to me :))... THUNDER sounds really great for a big dog!!! :)

lol, yes if they are a guard dog can you imagine? Putting a sign outside the house: "Be aware of the Dog Thunder", I'm sure the thief would 'rain' out. Alright that was a terrible joke
In one day I came up with others, Pink, Jelly, Candy for girl Cat.
Bob, Mr. Something (just find funny guardians that name their kids Mr.Something and they actually say the Mr when they are calling them.lol) or as cute as you like: food.
Loved this topic, hopefully you'll find a good one.
You can also look into these just like new mommies do:
Gals: http://www.babynames.com/girl-names/
Boys: http://www.babynames.com/boy-names/
And of course dear: http://www.petbabynames.com/
And if you see it here, they actually have names of food, lol!
http://www.petbabynames.com/Names/category_results.php?category=8
Aspargus! Broccoli, Coffee, lol! The good thing about food you can choose by their color :D
Oh, I almost forgot. I saw this in a rescue site, they took two big dogs from the street and unfortunately they were looking for someone who could adopt both of then, kind of sad cause people don't do that. They were inseparable even being two males, so they named them Brad AND Pitt, lol! That was the best. Better than tofu, so funny.

There was a cute cat female I used to call her "squriel" because she had a thick tail like a squriel. I also had a cat I called him "kaso" because most of the time , I call cats like "ksksksksks" so I just plant some vowels between the k and the s.
So , if you say that name multiple times , it comes out like a whisper to cats :
kaso kaso kaso , kasi kasi kasi... kasik sik sik sik.
That's so funny.

Yea , that name , when repeated multiple times , is similar to the way we usually call the cats to come :"pss pss pss pss..."
I personally have a dog who doesn't like cats and he likes chasing them and run away when they scratch him. He can cry out loud :"Ayw Ayw Ayw ..." and run with his tail between his legs. Some times an angry mother cat can scratch him and one of her nails outer peal can stay on the dog's skin.

I have a tendency to give cats British names. They just seem British to me. I had a female cat called Quinevere and a boy cat called Alastair. My all time favorite cat (still my avatar here although he passed away in 2010) was named Humphrey.
Sometimes my names backfire. We have a little grey and white fireball that we at first called Oliver but somehow he just got to be called Pheesh which suits him better. Actually one of your names (Fiercy) would probably have been perfect for him.

Funny names! we had a cat called "midnight",that is easy,he was black all over, then we got an other one and I named her "Velcro" because when she was a kitten we used to "wear " her on our shirts and when we tried to pull her off,it sounded like velcro! Little did i know that she will turn out to be totally independent, and now I only get to pet her when she eats,or she wants something. We also had a cat named Juggernaut because of him being huge!(that what the name means). And the latest addition is Snuggles, because that is what he likes to do!

My beloved cat, (r.i.p.) Ginger was actually a nickname for Gingerbread because he had ginger coloring - a beautiful cat - my best friend cat ever. After he passed away, we got Rook - my son named him for the chess piece! Then, four years after we got Rook, STormy Blue entered our lives - a kitten I found as a stray hanging with the hood feral cats. My daughter suggested Storm because he was originally an outdoors cat, and I made it in to Stormy Blue because I liked the sound of it.
I've also, in the past, had Midnight and Ashes - both all black cats and Boots - a black cat with white boots, and Cookie - a creamy, vanilla cookie colored cat. I told myself the next orange tabby I get I'll name Sunny because it's such a ...sunny name!

Our first family cat is named Tigger (orange and white) by my little sister in reference to Winnie the Poohs' own Tigger. Our next family cat is named Roxy, done by my other sister. The third cat we got was named Robyn, who unfortunately is no longer with us. My current cat is a little smokey gray one named Yoko (not after Yoko Ono!), named after a well known cat from a Japanese children story.
I have a friend who owns 2 cats, one is pure white named Alice, the other is pure black and kinda fiesty, named Malice.

Hey footprints55, i was a little bit confused when i was reading your post cause most of your pets are cats while your photo profile is a Dog i wonder why. Well anyway I`d like to share to you the different names of my Dogs. The name of my first Dog is Snoopy, she is small one with black and white patches all over her body while the other one is Moshe-Moshe she is a Dachshund Dog, others were named by their hair colors like Brownie for a brown colored Dog, Blacky or Nigra for a black colored, and Whitee for a Dog with white color hair. Some where named based on their body built like the one we named Yati cause he is thin, their was also one called Cutie caused she is cute, others are Pochie, Margie, Pinky to name few.

Our oldest cat is Sassy, we got here right after my children saw the movie Homeward Bound. My next cat is Beaufort. We named him after the Beaufort River that somone threw him off the bridge and we found him floating in the water. Our last cat is Rebel. He is an orange color and fiesty, his name really suits him.

I like the name Coffee for the dark colored cat, thats very catchy and unique. I have had plenty of cats over the years they have had some cute names too, some names I wanted to call them but no one else seemed to like them so they ended up with names like Joe, and Tiger. The other unique names I have had for some of them were Oreo, Pretty Katt, Sassafrass, Bumper, Fonzie, HuggyBear, Cricket, and Rusty cause he had orange hair ( with white). It seems I've never really named a cat of mine that I have kept for very long with a special name of my own that I chose for them though, cause it seems that always others wanted control of that. The only one i could think of is Sassafrass and we couldn't keep her and some others due to a cat hating neighbor next door.

I have only had a few cats in my life. I have had more dogs then any thing. When i was younger i would always name my animals after their color. I have had a blacky, brownie, whitey and so on lol. I have only name 2 animals in my life one was after a cartoon kids movie and the other was buffy. But i called that cat buffy because she was very very fluffy. All other animals i have gotten have already had names.

Well, when it comes time to name pets, I am certainly one to be creative or imaginative. When I was growing up I had a fish named Mac. Greyish colored fish. I later got a cat for my birthday who was gold colored. Can you guess what I called him? Cheese! That day I was the coolest kid ever, I had a fish and cat called Mac & Cheese! When I was older I got myself a dog, Akita Husky/Wolf, Beautiful dog, with 2 different colored eyes. I called her lightning. I recently bought a pug from my mother and we called him Uno. She Learned how to say stop. Can’t say No to him, things your calling his name!
